Scott Eastwood is known for his roles in war films, and his new movie, Lucky Strike, puts him back in that genre. He stars with Colin Hanks (famous for his work in the acclaimed HBO series Band of Brothers) as a soldier named John Castle. Castle is injured and stranded behind enemy lines during the intense Battle of the Bulge in World War II. This crucial battle took place in the Ardennes Forest in Belgium in late 1944 and marked a turning point in the war, with significant casualties on both sides.
To mark the upcoming release of the film Lucky Strike on June 26, 2026, we’re excited to share a special sneak peek! This exclusive clip, brought to you in partnership with Roadside Attractions and Saban Films, shows a surprise attack on Eastwood’s team.
What You Need to Know About Lucky Strike
Rod Lurie, the director of Lucky Strike, previously collaborated with Clint Eastwood on the acclaimed film The Outpost, known for its realistic portrayal of combat and soldiers. This makes sense considering Lurie’s background – he served in the military before becoming a film critic and then a director. He’s also proven skilled at creating suspenseful narratives, having directed the 2011 remake of Straw Dogs and the Netflix series Damnation.
Similar to the larger story of the war, Castle finds himself completely alone after his entire unit is killed and he’s stranded behind enemy lines as German forces push forward. The film looks to be a gripping and inspiring look at war and the strength of the human spirit, making it a must-see for fans of war movies. Clint Eastwood and Tom Hanks, who plays his commander, lead a cast that also includes Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor and Taylor John Smith.
Lucky Strike is Perfect for Band of Brothers Fans
As a big fan of Band of Brothers, I was immediately drawn to Lucky Strike. It’s not just because Colin Hanks is in it – the movie actually tells a story very similar to the incredible episodes “Bastogne” and “The Breaking Point.” Like those episodes, it really captures both the horror and the bravery of war. This film feels the same way, sharing a true story of a soldier during one of the most intense moments of World War II. The clip we got a sneak peek at perfectly shows the desperation soldiers felt during the Battle of the Bulge – the German surprise attack that left Allied forces surrounded. And the full trailer really drives home that feeling of being right there in the middle of it all.
