Xbox Just Blatantly Teased Project Helix’s Release Date

Okay, so Xbox is definitely hinting at when their next console – currently called Project Helix – is coming out. They first showed us a glimpse of it earlier this year, giving us some initial details about the hardware. They didn’t give us a firm release date then, but everyone was guessing late 2027. Now, it looks like the people at Xbox have pretty much confirmed that 2027 window, though they’re being a little sneaky about it!

This week, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma sent a message to employees announcing a major shift in direction for the company. This will unfortunately include layoffs starting in July. In addition to the job cuts, Sharma emphasized the importance of Xbox’s future hardware plans, specifically focusing on a key launch planned for the 2027 holiday season.

While Sharma didn’t specify exactly when Project Helix will be released, it’s expected to launch by the end of next year. Considering past Xbox releases, November 2027 seems the most likely launch month, as every Xbox console to date has been released during that time.

However, the current economic situation might push Xbox to postpone the launch of Project Helix. According to Sharma, the cost of parts needed to build the consoles has already doubled since late 2025, and is predicted to increase fivefold by 2027. If these projections are accurate, Xbox may adopt a more careful and calculated approach to the release date, similar to what we’ve seen from Valve and its Steam Machine this year.

Over the next few months, we expect to hear more details about Project Helix and Xbox’s future plans for its gaming platform as they prepare for the next console generation. We’ll share any new information about the console’s release with you right here on ComicBook as soon as it becomes available.
