Supergirl’s Milly Alcock & Jason Momoa Officially Reveal the DC Characters They Want to Fight Most [Exclusive]

This month’s Supergirl movie will feature Kara Zor-El (played by Milly Alcock) joining forces with Lobo (Jason Momoa). The story will center on Kara battling Krem of the Yellow Hills and a band of space pirates known as the Brigands. The stakes are high – she’s trying to save her super-dog, Krypto – and she’ll team up with Lobo, a mercenary often compared to Wolverine, as part of the new DC Universe being developed by James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Even though some characters recently faced challenges, this is a shared universe, so their stories aren’t over yet. We definitely haven’t seen the last of Supergirl – she’s confirmed to return in Man of Tomorrow, the next film from James Gunn after Superman in 2025. While there’s no official word on Lobo’s future, Jason Momoa really wanted to play this role, so it’s unlikely this was just a one-time appearance. ComicBook asked Alcock and Momoa who they’d like to see their characters fight in the future, and here’s what they said:

You know, I’m really excited about Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. He just seems like such a genuinely nice guy – almost too nice, which is funny because he also has this face you just want to punch! Plus, I totally grew up watching Skins, so seeing him take on this role is a bit of a nostalgic double whammy for me.

Jason Momoa expressed his desire to have a fight scene with Superman, saying, ‘You have to fight Superman!’ He also joked about wanting to challenge Batman, imagining a confrontation where he’d playfully taunt the wealthy hero with a ‘sasa’ – a Hawaiian greeting meaning ‘hello’ – in a dark alley.

Will Alcock & Momoa’s Dream Supergirl & Lobo Fights Happen In The DCU?

Many viewers agree with the idea that Lex Luthor is a character you just want to see get punched – though not the actor Nicholas Hoult, even if his character in Skins deserved it! There’s a good chance this will happen in the upcoming film. Kara (Supergirl) is slated to appear in Man of Tomorrow, and the villain from that story will return. In the next movie, Lex will have his powerful Warsuit from the DC Comics, and it’s likely we’ll see him and Superman working together to fight Brainiac. However, depending on how much screen time she gets, Supergirl might still get a hit in, and even with the suit, Lex isn’t as strong as Supergirl.

Jason Momoa has hinted at a long-standing, complex relationship between Lobo and Superman in the DC Universe. He’s mentioned that Superman has occasionally been an obstacle for Lobo, but they also share a level of respect. While Lobo won their first comic book fight in Adventures of Superman #464, most of their subsequent battles have either ended in a tie or with Superman winning. They’re fairly evenly matched in terms of strength, and Lobo’s impressive healing abilities also play a role, making a potential on-screen showdown very exciting.

In a straight-up fight, Lobo would likely win against Batman. While Batman is incredibly skilled, he’s still human, and Lobo possesses alien strength comparable to Superman’s. However, if Batman has time to prepare, his intelligence, wealth, and advanced technology could even the odds and make for a much closer battle.

It’s still uncertain if any of these plans will come to fruition – especially since Batman hasn’t been cast yet – but it’s likely one of the possibilities being considered for the future of the DCU. So far, Gunn and Safran have been strategic in building their shared universe, introducing characters gradually and naturally, rather than forcing things. This makes conflicts like these seem believable, even probable, but they’re proceeding carefully, with their immediate focus on the upcoming Supergirl movie.
