Shakira certainly scored a winning performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Shakira kicked off the international soccer tournament on June 11th with a performance of its official song, “Dai Dai,” alongside Burna Boy at Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca.
Shakira stunned in a bright yellow jumpsuit and sunglasses, showcasing her famous dance moves with a large group of backup dancers. The singer of “City Boys” complemented her with a denim outfit, enjoying the performance alongside her.
After her performance, Shakira shared a message on Instagram hoping the 2026 World Cup brings peace, happiness, and togetherness to everyone. She also emphasized the importance of supporting children and providing them with opportunities like education so they can succeed.
The 49-year-old concluded, “We are ready!”
Shakira wasn’t the only big international artist to perform; J Balvin also took the stage in Mexico City, playing a mix of his most popular songs.
Just before the match between Mexico and South Africa began, actress Salma Hayek greeted the fans. Then, singer EJAE, known for KPop Demon Hunters, and renowned Italian opera singer Andrea Bocelli performed the official World Cup anthem, “DNA.” The song emphasizes that soccer is more than just a sport—it’s a fundamental part of who we are.
Even though Italy didn’t qualify for the World Cup—hosted jointly by Mexico, the United States, and Canada—Andrea Bocelli was still proud to perform as an Italian representative.

It’s a real honor and a joy to be here representing my country, even though we didn’t qualify for the World Cup,” he said to ESPN. “This is the result of years of dedication, hard work, travel, and sacrifice, and it’s happening in a meaningful and enjoyable environment.”
As a lifestyle expert, I’m so excited about the ongoing celebrations! Mexico kicked things off with a fantastic opening ceremony full of amazing performances, but the fun doesn’t stop there. We have two more incredible opening ceremonies coming up – one in the U.S. and another in Canada! Get ready for more spectacular events.

Before the USA women’s soccer team plays Paraguay on June 12th, fans in Los Angeles will enjoy an opening ceremony with performances by Katy Perry, Future, LISA of Blackpink, and Anitta.
