I’m still buzzing about Season 2 of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End! It just finished up in March, and honestly, it adapted what I think is the best story arc from the manga. We continue following Frieren and her crew as they head further North – it’s amazing to see Fern growing as a mage! Their ultimate goal, reaching Aureole – the place where souls rest – is still a long way off, but they’re determined to get there. This season covered the ‘Continued Travels’ and ‘Divine Revolte’ arcs, and it also teased what’s coming up in the ‘Golden Land’ arc. And the best news? @animetv_jp just announced there’s going to be a special Frieren event at Anime Expo on July 4th, 2026! I’m already marking my calendar!
Anime Expo, a popular annual convention celebrating Japanese culture, is coming up from July 2nd to 5th. For over thirty years, it’s been a place where fans can get the latest news, exclusive merchandise, and participate in panels and workshops. Because the event is happening so close to the release of the anime’s third season, many fans are hoping to hear some exciting updates there. More details about the convention will be announced soon.
What to Expect From Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 3

I’m so excited! Frieren is coming back for Season 3 next October, and it’s going to cover the Golden Land Arc – which so many fans, including me, have been waiting for! The official website just dropped a first look at Mahat, a key character in this arc, and he looks incredible. Apparently, he’s one of the Seven Sages of Destruction, so we’re in for some seriously powerful battles! Get ready to join Frieren and her friends as they journey to a legendary land said to be made of gold – it’s going to be amazing!
Frieren and her companions don’t know it yet, but the anime has revealed that Denken, a powerful mage who took the exam with Fern, comes from a specific hometown. They’ll meet up with him again in Season 3 and assist him as he faces a difficult challenge and prepares for his final battle.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Is Still on Indefinite Hiatus

The anime is currently on hold while fans wait for its comeback, and the manga has been on an extended break since October 2025 with no news about when it will continue. This pause was announced because the creators, writer Kanehito Yamada and illustrator Tsukasa Abe, needed time to focus on their health and work on the series at a comfortable speed.
This is the second time the series has paused this year. It briefly returned in July after a break in January, but is now on hold again. The creators are using this time to rest and work on the story at a sustainable pace. They’re simply reorganizing their schedule, and plan to resume publishing in a few months.
