Fans are eagerly awaiting Marvel’s Wolverine, the next game from the team behind the popular Marvel’s Spider-Man series. A recently released trailer has generated a lot of excitement and close examination, as players are dissecting every detail before the game’s expected September 2026 release.

Here are five subtle details you might have overlooked in the newest Marvel’s Wolverine trailer. They’re presented in the order they appear in the video, so the numbers aren’t important.

5) A Billboard Points To A Spider-Man Connection/Cameo

Okay, the trailer immediately throws you into the action with a fast-paced montage! I almost lost it when I saw what I’m pretty sure is Wolverine leaping from a balcony to catch a zipline – everyone’s saying it’s Madripoor, and that makes total sense. As a fan, I know Logan spends a lot of time on that little Southeast Asian island, so it’s awesome to see it hinted at here!

You might not have noticed, but there’s a billboard in the upper right corner of the image that says “Roxxon Power.” This company also appears in Insomniac’s Spider-Man games. Since the developers have confirmed both games exist in the same universe, it’s not too shocking to see this connection.

It’s a nice surprise to see this little connection included. It makes you wonder if this could lead to a bigger connection between the two games. While a full appearance by Spider-Man or Miles Morales seems doubtful, we might see a smaller character like Prowler or Simone Krieger make an appearance. Or, this could just be a fun Easter egg, and they’ll save any major crossovers for a future collaboration.

4) The Quick Skullbuster Reveal

The gameplay preview shows Wolverine battling multiple Reavers while attempting to save the mutant Leech. Leech is being held captive in a truck with other mutants. One of the Reavers is recognizable by their red facepaint, suggesting they are the character known as Skullbuster.

Interestingly, Skullbuster typically wears white facepaint in the comics. But given he’s the leader of the Reavers, that distinctive pattern strongly suggests it’s him we see in the trailer. While he’s defeated fairly quickly, it’s possible he’ll survive and return to challenge Wolverine later in the story.

3) Debra Wilson’s Character Seemingly Revealed

Debra Wilson has become a familiar face in video games recently, so many viewers noticed her appearance in the new Wolverine trailer. While it might have been a quick shot, she’s wearing an eyepatch, strongly suggesting her character in the game.

Callisto, the Morlock leader, is one of the few female characters seen with an eyepatch. With the inclusion of Leech in the game, it strongly suggests the Morlocks will play a role in Marvel’s Wolverine. Leech and Callisto aren’t the only clues pointing to the Morlocks’ involvement, though.

2) More Morlock Hints

Besides Debra Wilson, there are a couple of other mutants visible in that scene. It’s difficult to identify the woman wearing cheetah-print leggings, but we might recognize the man with the big, orange glasses. Although Toad wasn’t a member of the Morlocks, that figure strongly resembles him. However, some fans believe it could be Speedball, and that seems more probable.

We then see the mutants again, this time inside the truck with Leech and Callisto. The man in the purple suit is likely Caliban, a mutant with the ability to detect other mutants. As one of the original Morlocks, it makes sense he’d be involved. We also spot a mutant with antlers, identified as Nature Girl, who has powers connected to the natural world – a useful skill set given they’re in the Canadian wilderness.

1) The Weapon X Cover Recreation

Okay, so this might be a deep cut for anyone who doesn’t read the Wolverine comics, but I totally geeked out over a quick shot in the trailer! It reminded me instantly of a classic cover from the Weapon X series. You see Logan casually lifting one of the Reavers with just one hand, while slicing another one apart with the other – it’s a perfect recreation of that iconic image, and it’s awesome if you’re familiar with the source material!

Dedicated fans will notice a familiar scene – it’s a nod to the cover of the classic Weapon X 3rd Edition comic. While that cover by Barry Windsor-Smith showed Wolverine surrounded by even more foes, this is a clear tribute. This makes sense, as Marvel’s Wolverine focuses on Logan’s past. When exploring his origins, it’s a smart move to reference one of the most celebrated interpretations of that story.
