Tim Allen wasn’t so sure he had a dad in him.
You know, it’s funny how life surprises you. I recently spoke with the actor from Toy Story 5, and he shared something really personal – he never actually envisioned becoming a dad! He has two wonderful children: Katherine Allen, who’s 36, with his former partner Laura Deibel, and Elizabeth Allen-Dick, 17, with his wife Jane Hajduk. It just goes to show you can’t always predict what the future holds, even for someone in the public eye.
Allen admitted in an interview with Us Weekly on June 10th that he never had a strong desire to be a father. He explained that he often makes jokes about this onstage, as he’s ‘never been a real fan of children.’
He explained that it was all a learning process. His wife often jokes they would have loved to have five children, because you really figure things out with the first two. He admitted he wasn’t around much when their daughter Kate was growing up, and her mother primarily raised her.
Being a father to his daughters was new territory for the 72-year-old. He tried to bond with them by using approaches he already knew and felt good about.
Growing up with seven brothers and only two sisters has given me a unique perspective on women,” he said. “I think about strength in a different way, and honestly, things like fashion, appearance, or gossip don’t really interest me much.”
Rather than pushing traditional gender roles, Allen – who married Hajduk in 2006 – prioritized teaching their children financial literacy and self-sufficiency, believing these skills are important for all kids.
Raising daughters hasn’t always been easy for the former star of Home Improvement, and he’s faced a few challenges.

He explained to HuffPost in January 2014 that he sometimes feels disconnected from his children because their interests differ from his own, particularly recalling how he grew up surrounded by boys and traditionally ‘masculine’ activities. He noted that his older daughter shares his passion for cars, and his younger daughter enjoys visiting his workshop and playing with them.
He stressed that nothing compares to the love you get from your daughters, calling them “great” and “absolutely wonderful.”
Allen isn’t alone in having a close relationship with his children. Here are more celebrities who have opened up about their special bonds with their daughters.

Oh my gosh, can we talk about Ryan Reynolds for a second? He’s just… perfect! And with Blake Lively?! Dream couple alert! They have four kids, can you believe it? Three gorgeous daughters – James, Inez, and little Betty – and a son, Olin. Seriously, their family is everything. I’m obsessed!
And when it comes to fatherhood, Reynolds is strapped in for the adventure.
As someone who really appreciates the joys of family life, let me tell you, being a dad to girls is incredible! I have three daughters, which honestly was a complete surprise. Growing up with three older brothers as the youngest of four boys, I never pictured myself surrounded by so much feminine energy – and I absolutely adore it. It’s been an amazing journey, and I wouldn’t trade a single moment.

He specifically suggested Halle Berry would make an excellent president, and expressed his firm belief that women are more intelligent than men – a view he says wouldn’t change even if he had only sons.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m always fascinated by modern family dynamics! Bruce Willis certainly has a unique one. He’s a proud dad to five daughters – Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah with his former wife, Demi Moore, and Mabel and Evelyn with his current wife, Emma Heming. It’s lovely to see how he blends his family life!

For Johnson, being a girl dad has meant unlocking a softer side to him.
He explained to People magazine in 2021 that many fathers are naturally inclined to try and fix problems. However, learning to listen more carefully and be kinder allowed him to help his children work through their own issues, rather than simply solving them for them.

Jamie Foxx has two daughters. He shares Corinne with his former partner, Connie Kline, and Anelise with ex-wife Kristin Grannis.
He explained to The Ellen Show in 2021 that people can share anything with him and they can discuss any topic. He admitted it sounds simple, but believes that’s all that truly matters.
