Gears of War: E-Day’s Campaign is Over 14 Hours Long and Lets You Play as Any Bravo Squad Member

For years, players have enjoyed both the competitive Versus mode and the cooperative Horde mode in Gears of War games, with occasional unique experiences like Hivebusters. But the campaign is what truly brings everything together – it’s the core of the game. This is especially true for Gears of War: E-Day, which starts a new story after the Pendulum Wars, taking place in Kalona.

Despite offering a richer city environment and optional side goals, Gears of War developer The Coalition is keeping the main story on a set path. However, according to creative director Matt Searcy, this campaign will be their longest yet – exceeding 14 hours in length. Players can also look forward to plenty of collectibles, including the popular COG Tags making a comeback.

The developers also explained how jumping will work in the game. Basically, don’t expect it to play like a 3D Mario game. Instead, the focus is on using the new flanking paths, not jumping to different levels. Plus, if you’re playing alone, you’ll have access to all of Bravo Squad from the start of the campaign, according to brand director Nicole Fawcette.

The new game, Gears of War: E-Day, will be released on October 6th for Xbox Series X/S and PC. Players can try out an early version with an open beta starting in August. The developers at The Coalition recently shared details about the game’s story campaign and plan to share more information about multiplayer features soon. Fans are eager to hear about the 12-player Horde Siege mode and what content will be added after launch.
