Yesterday, Bitcoin attempted to rise above $64,000, but failed to sustain the increase. As of Saturday morning, it’s still trading near that price point.

Over the last day, most of the bigger alternative cryptocurrencies (altcoins) have seen small increases in value – for example, ADA and HYPE are each up about 3%. However, Monero (XMR) experienced a significant price drop.

BTC Calms at $64K

Bitcoin showed resilience after a significant price drop in early June, hitting a low of $59,100 that Friday. Following this dip to an almost two-year low, the cryptocurrency recovered and climbed back up to around $64,000 by June 8th.

Recent escalations in tensions between the US and Iran, including attacks in several countries, stopped bitcoin from bouncing back. Higher-than-expected inflation figures released in May also contributed to this halt.

Bitcoin briefly dropped below $61,000 a few times this week, but it recovered and tried to climb higher. It reached a peak of nearly $64,500 yesterday, right before SPCX began trading on Wall Street. However, selling pressure pushed the price down slightly, and Bitcoin is currently trading just under $64,000.

I’m watching the crypto market and it’s incredible – total market cap is now pushing $1.28 trillion according to CoinGecko! But what’s really interesting is that Bitcoin is still dominating, now accounting for over 56% of the entire altcoin market.

XMR Dumps

Looking at the market today, Ethereum is steadily climbing, nearing the $1,700 mark with a slight increase. We’re seeing similar, modest gains – under 1% – in BNB, XRP, and TRX. DOGE and SOL are showing a bit more momentum, up around 1.6-1.7%. However, HYPE is the standout performer, jumping over 3% to hit $59. I’m also tracking Cardano; its token is attempting a recovery and is up 3%, now comfortably above $0.17 after recent price drops.

Unlike some cryptocurrencies that have seen gains, Monero (XMR) has lost all of its weekly profits, falling over 12% to $340. NEAR and ZEC have also experienced small losses. However, BEAT, TAO, and ICP have performed well, increasing in value by as much as 11%.

The total cryptocurrency market cap has remained near $2.270 trillion on CG.
