Prepare yourself, as the WWE world prepares for the inaugural two-day SummerSlam event this coming weekend at MetLife Stadium! Join in on the excitement by living your very own SummerSlam fantasy, as WWE 2K25 offers a free play weekend!
As a thrilled fan, I’m excited to share that starting from July 31st, we’ve got a free play period running all the way through August 3rd – that’s the very next day of the real-life SummerSlam extravaganza!
To clarify, it’s essential to have an active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Standard, or Core membership to enjoy the games offered on this platform.
To put it casually, on a personal computer (PC), you don’t need any specific prerequisites. Just navigate to the WWE 2K25 store page and click ‘Play Game’ to initiate its installation onto your system.
I haven’t given it a go on the Steam Deck personally since I’m primarily an Xbox user, but based on ProtonDB, WWE 2K25 receives a top-tier Platinum rating. The user feedback indicates a smooth experience on the Steam Deck without requiring any adjustments, and achieving 60 FPS gameplay seems feasible.
It’s not surprising, given that WWE 2K25 is among the handful of significant launches in 2023 that are still compatible with the Xbox One.
A ton of gameplay, some better than others
For the first time in several years, I’ve dived back into the world of wrestling with WWE 2K25, and it’s been a fun-filled experience so far. The free play weekend offers an abundance of content to explore, but if you’re looking for some top picks, here are a few I’d highly suggest.
If you don’t intend to purchase the game (as it’s currently discounted), I’d advise avoiding MyFaction. You can start without buying anything, but if you’re not committed to playing for a while, it might not be wise to invest too much of your leisure time in it.
My top suggestion would be to give MyRise in WWE 2K25 a try. It’s an engaging story campaign mode that offers a fantastic narrative, with your choices shaping the journey you embark on. Plus, there are some cool rewards to unlock along the way!
MyRise offers a degree of replayability since various routes must be explored to uncover all the rewards it holds.
On a console, there’s an option called “The Island” you can explore, but I’d strongly advise using your spare time to delve into the Bray Wyatt narrative instead. It doesn’t need any prior progress to access and can be found in the Deadlands. At the very least, it offers exclusive footage, making it worth exploring.
In addition, the Showcase mode is quite impressive. It’s linked to the Bloodline and is narrated by the esteemed Hall of Famer, Paul Heyman. You’ll have the opportunity to reenact some significant matches from history, alter the results of certain historical encounters, and witness different time periods intersecting in others.
If you don’t continue playing without pause until the unlimited play period finishes, you might not get a chance to explore everything thoroughly, but these suggestions should aid you in enjoying some of the most fascinating aspects instead.
So who you got winning? Cody or Cena?
