In the Alien series, it’s the Weyland-Yutani Corporation that plays a pivotal role. Initially just called “the Company” in the initial film, it orchestrates events and compels the Nostromo crew to explore indications of extraterrestrial life. Later on, Ripley and her team encounter a Facehugger, which attaches itself to Kane, eventually leading to the birth of a Xenomorph. A series of terrifying incidents follow, but Weyland-Yutani remains relentless in its quest for knowledge, engaged in a competitive struggle with other corporations on Earth, aiming to chart the course for mankind’s future first.
In the upcoming series “Alien: Earth” airing on FX, we’ll delve into the corporate battles for dominance, specifically against Weyland-Yutani, years prior to the original “Alien” movie. Among the competing companies are Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold, but Prodigy, led by its quirky CEO Boy Kavalier, stands out. Although we’re not quite at Kavalier’s grand entrance on August 12 yet, ComicBook has an exclusive sneak peek into Kavalier’s thoughts regarding Weyland-Yutani.
Kavalier is being secretive about his plans, which is understandable given his significant role in a highly competitive industry. However, it seems he may not have been following the promotional efforts for Alien: Earth, as this project appears to reveal Prodigy’s groundbreaking development. The company is working on transferring human consciousness into artificial beings, thus creating a novel life form. Not long after, a ship collides with Prodigy City, releasing strange alien creatures.
Wendy, the initial hybrid, plans to mobilize other artificial beings to pursue extraterrestrials, but they might have bitten off more than they can handle since a Xenomorph is poised to disrupt the entire operation significantly. It’s uncertain how much assistance their creator will offer because he appears more interested in capturing these creatures than protecting his synthetic family.
As a passionate cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that the stellar cast of “Alien: Earth” includes me, Samuel Blenkin (Kavalier), alongside Sydney Chandler as Wendy, Timothy Olyphant gracing the screen as Kirsh, Alex Lawther bringing CJ to life, Lily Newmark embodying Nibs, and Essie Davis breathtakingly portraying Dame Silva. This captivating series was masterfully crafted by Noah Hawley and produced by none other than Ridley Scott himself. Can’t wait to see it unfold on the big screen!
Alien: Earth‘s first two episodes release on FX and Hulu on August 12.
