March is shaping up to be a fantastic month for sitcom lovers! After Prime Video added classic shows like All in the Family, Married… With Children, and Who’s The Boss? on March 25th, Netflix is joining the fun. The streaming service just added all six seasons of a sitcom that didn’t get enough attention when it originally aired on CBS in the 2010s – though it was delayed from its planned February release.
Chuck Lorre, often called the “King of Sitcoms,” is the creative force behind many popular TV comedies like The Big Bang Theory and Mom. In 2010, he added another show to his list with Mike & Molly, which premiered on CBS. Starring Billy Gardell and Melissa McCarthy, the series often gets lost in the conversation about great sitcoms, especially compared to Lorre’s other hits. But now, all six seasons and 127 episodes are available on Netflix starting March 26th, giving viewers a chance to rediscover this binge-worthy comedy.
Why Is Mike & Molly So Good?
Looking for a feel-good, easy-to-watch show? Mike & Molly, available on Netflix, might be perfect. It’s a sitcom about Mike, a Chicago police officer, and Molly, a schoolteacher, who fall in love after meeting at an Overeaters Anonymous group. The show follows their relatable relationship as they work through life, marriage, and their careers, offering both laughs and heartwarming moments as they build a life together.
As a big TV fan, I always loved the chemistry between Billy Gardell and Melissa McCarthy – it was so natural, and their characters had a really sweet, believable romance. I remember when Mike & Molly first came out, there was a lot of focus on weight-based humor, but thankfully, the show quickly evolved into something much warmer and more heartfelt. With six seasons and 127 episodes, it’s a perfect show to binge-watch, and I was really pleased with how it all wrapped up. In fact, Season 6 has a perfect score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes (100%) and a great audience score too (83%), making it a truly satisfying ending for both the characters and those of us who followed their journey.
What’s New on Netflix?
Besides Mike & Molly, Netflix has a lot of other great shows and movies available to stream this March. You can now watch series like Stephen Spielberg’s The Dinosaurs, Season 2 of One Piece, and the new show from the creators of Stranger Things, Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen. On the movie front, Netflix added titles like Deepwater Horizon, The Lego Movie, Matilda, Zombieland, Hotel Mumbai, and Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale. Even with March ending soon, Netflix still has a few new releases planned, including BTS: THE RETURN on March 27th, Anemone on March 28th, and a new season of the sports documentary series Untold on March 31st.
