A Beautiful Break Up – REVIEW

A Beautiful Break Up ? Really?

The idea of an amicable breakup often feels like a fantasy, and according to our editor, a messy legal battle is far more realistic. The film, ‘A Beautiful Break Up,’ follows Ruby (Matylda Bajer) and Krish (Thaksh) as they journey to Krish’s uncle’s remote mansion in the Indian countryside. Before their story unfolds, we’re introduced to three spirits trapped within bottles in the long-abandoned house.

Will it be A Beautiful Break Up?

They planned one final weekend together before parting ways, but cleaning the house unexpectedly unleashed hidden spirits. This caused the couple’s already fragile attempt at a peaceful separation to fall apart, as long-held resentments and buried feelings came to the surface.

A Beautiful film?

This film blends a ghostly story with a romance, and while it has some good parts, it takes too long to develop the relationship between the main characters. The fact that Krish spends most of his time working on his laptop instead of connecting with Ruby hints that she’s better off without such a bland partner. The story would have been much more engaging if the supernatural elements had been introduced and developed earlier on.

I have to say, while watching ‘A Beautiful Break Up,’ I felt like it dragged in places. At 90 minutes, it felt much longer, and some scenes could definitely have been trimmed or even removed. That being said, the movie really showcased the beauty of the Indian countryside, and I thought the way the spirits were portrayed was well done. Overall, though, it just felt a little… ordinary.
