DreamWorks Animation is well-known for making successful sequels. They’ve consistently created follow-up movies that are as good as, or even better than, the originals – think Shrek 2 or Kung Fu Panda 2. Now, Netflix viewers can soon enjoy a brand new, exciting DreamWorks sequel featuring two popular actors from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Awkwafina and Sam Rockwell, known for their roles in Marvel films like Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Iron Man 2, teamed up again for The Bad Guys 2. While it’s currently available on Peacock, the movie will be moving to Netflix on March 21st. The 2022 film is also streaming there. The Bad Guys 2 follows a group of reformed animal criminals – Mr. Wolf (Rockwell), Ms. Tarantula (Awkwafina), Mr. Snake (Marc Maron), Mr. Shark (Craig Robinson), and Mr. Piranha (Anthony Ramos) – who are pulled back into action for a dangerous heist by a new group of villains called “The Bad Girls.”
Sam Rockwell and Awkwafina’s The Bad Guys 2 Is a Near-Perfect Sequel
It seemed unlikely any movie could be as popular as The Bad Guys, which was a huge success for DreamWorks. It earned $251 million globally, received excellent reviews (87% from critics and 93% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes), and was a big hit on Netflix. However, The Bad Guys 2 proved just as successful, becoming one of DreamWorks’ best sequels. In fact, it received similar ratings to the original, even scoring slightly higher with audiences.
The Bad Guys 2 is a thoroughly enjoyable and energetic sequel that’s just plain fun to watch. The movie picks up where the first one left off, with the former thieves trying to prove they’re good guys despite their past. It’s a lighthearted, exciting heist movie in the spirit of Ocean’s 11, and it’s surprisingly sweet. Filled with over-the-top action – including a wedding robbery and a trip to space – and constant, funny dialogue, The Bad Guys 2 is a crowd-pleaser for all ages. It keeps the cleverness and appeal of the original, along with its unique, comic book-inspired animation style.
Other Family-Friendly Movies Now on Netflix
Netflix has a lot of fantastic movies available to stream this March, with many choices perfect for families. While everyone anticipates the arrival of The Bad Guys 2 on March 21st, they can enjoy another DreamWorks hit, Trolls, which became available on March 1st. Other popular kids’ movies added this month include Goosebumps, The Lego Movie, Matilda, and The Swan Princess.
