Biographical movies, or biopics, usually blend fact with fiction to create a more compelling story. While they take creative liberties for dramatic effect, they generally aim for overall accuracy. Audiences expect true stories to be treated with respect, and that realism is often what draws people in. However, errors sometimes slip through, and a recent discovery in the new film Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere is particularly amusing.
Most moviegoers probably don’t know what condiments Bruce Springsteen prefers on his hot dogs, but some dedicated fans do. This has led to online debate about a detail in the upcoming 2025 film starring Jeremy Allen White as The Boss. In the movie, Springsteen says he likes mustard on his hot dogs, but a Twitter user named GenZBruceFan has shared video proof that he actually prefers something else.
I’m a big mustard fan – I think it’s perfect on hot dogs. However, concert footage reveals Bruce Springsteen feels very strongly against it. He shared a story with the audience about ordering a sandwich and launched into an unexpected complaint about not liking mustard in any form.
Look, I’m a pretty simple guy when it comes to food. Fancy stuff? Forget it. And mustard? Absolutely not. Seriously, any kind of mustard is a no-go for me. Hot dogs, sandwiches…doesn’t matter what it is, just keep the mustard away. I really can’t stand it.
I really like how straightforward this is. You might initially assume that just because someone dislikes mustard on one thing – like a ham sandwich – doesn’t mean they dislike it altogether. But the author quickly clarifies that they won’t put it on hot dogs either, which makes the claim that they like mustard completely wrong and actually quite funny.
I couldn’t find out exactly what Bruce Springsteen likes on his hot dogs. However, I did learn he once ordered five dozen hot dogs from Max’s Bar and Grill for an event. According to the manager, the order included hot dogs, sauerkraut, relish, and buns, but surprisingly, no mustard!
Despite a small, funny error, the new documentary Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere opened in theaters this past Friday and performed well, landing in fourth place at the box office. Critics have given it positive reviews, especially highlighting Jeremy Allen White’s performance.
