Anime has become incredibly popular lately, and Warner Bros. has definitely noticed. They’ve started creating their own original anime, like The Suicide Squad Isekai, and are helping bring shows like JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steelball Run to life. Now, in an unexpected turn, Warner Bros. is planning to reimagine some of its most famous characters as anime heroes – and the new project involving Mystery Incorporated might be different than you’d think.
A new anime series featuring Scooby-Doo and Shaggy, titled “Scooby-Goo! Gokko,” was recently announced at an event in Brazil and is scheduled to premiere in 2027. This follows a trend of reimagining classic Warner Bros. characters in anime format, similar to the recent anime version of Tom and Jerry. The “Gokko” style gives characters a cute and endearing look, judging by the previous Tom and Jerry anime. Interestingly, this isn’t the first Scooby-Doo anime, and some fans might be curious about the status of another Scooby-Doo anime project that was previously announced. You can see a first look image below.

Scooby-Doo’s Anime Future

A new anime series featuring Scooby-Doo and Shaggy was announced in 2024. Titled Go-Go Mystery Machine, the show will follow the pair as they travel to Japan and encounter Yokai – mythical creatures from Japanese folklore. Revealed at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, the series introduces Scooby’s uncle, Daisuke-Doo, along with new characters Etsuko and Toshiro. The story begins with Shaggy and Scooby embarking on a food tour of Japan when they accidentally release hundreds of mischievous monsters, leading them on a quest to capture them with the help of their new friends and family.
I’ve been following the news since the initial announcement back in 2024, and honestly, not much information has come out beyond that first statement and a single promotional picture. With this new series, Scooby-Doo Gokko, being teased, a lot of people are wondering if it will replace the previously announced Go-Go Mystery Machine. We haven’t heard anything official about what’s happening with Go-Go Mystery Machine, but it looks like the Mystery Inc. gang is definitely involved in some kind of anime project.
Scooby-Doo recently enjoyed a major resurgence thanks to the video game Fortnite, which featured Scooby and Shaggy as playable characters. Though not a new TV show, this collaboration demonstrated continued public interest in seeing the classic mystery-solving duo return to entertainment.
