Good news for fans of Tangled! The live-action remake that’s been talked about for a long time is officially happening. Disney recently announced the actors who will play Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, and they’re also negotiating with someone to play Mother Gothel. It looks like this movie will be a large-scale production, and one of the actors says it’s a dream come true to be involved.
A video of Milo Manheim’s interview with Buzzfeed’s ‘Puppy Interview’ series from early 2025 is quickly spreading online because it unexpectedly asked him about potentially playing Flynn Rider in a live-action version of Tangled. It’s easy to understand why Milo Manheim is so thrilled to play Flynn Rider. He’s assured fans he’ll give a great performance, knowing how much the character means to them – and to himself. This role was clearly something he really wanted, so finally getting it is incredibly meaningful. He probably never imagined when he first expressed interest that he’d actually be a serious contender, let alone be cast!
When actors genuinely love the projects they’re working on, the results are often amazing. As a big fan of Tangled, I’m especially hopeful for the upcoming live-action remake, and it’s exciting to know that someone involved is truly committed to making it something special.
Manheim will star as Flynn, alongside Teagen Croft as Rapunzel. Disney is also considering Kathryn Hahn for the role of Mother Gothel, a part previously offered to Scarlett Johansson before she decided not to take it. Michael Gracey is directing the film.
Disney plans to begin filming a live-action version of Tangled this summer. They’re also releasing a new Moana movie in July, with Dwayne Johnson returning to play Maui.
