A Court of Thorns and Roses Showrunner Ronald D. Moore Exits TV Adaptation

As a dedicated fan of both Ronald D. Moore’s work and the enchanting world of A Court of Thorns and Roses, I find myself in a bit of a conundrum. The news of Moore stepping away from the ACOTAR project has left me with a feeling that can only be described as a mix between a sigh of disappointment and a twinge of curiosity.

As a devoted admirer, I’ve got to share some news about Ronald D. Moore, the genius behind Battlestar Galactica and For All Mankind. He’s parted ways from the highly anticipated adaptation of A Court of Thorns and Roses. Although the project might continue without him – he’s not sure – he had to step back due to signing an overall deal with Sony. A Court of Thorns and Roses, a novel by Sarah J. Maas, is currently set up at Disney. As recently as February, the project was still in development, but its fate could be uncertain now that Moore has moved on, given the whispers about potential troubles even with him involved.

The question came up during a chat with Moore at Comic Con, where, Entertainment Weekly brought up the issue of the log-awaited adaptation.

Moore explained, “Since I’ve moved back to Sony from Disney, I’m no longer involved in the project. Previously, ‘ACOTAR’ was being developed at 20th Century Television, which is part of Disney.”

Moore mentioned that he had been working on it for some time, but when he departed, it was still undergoing development, as one might put it. Consequently, he’s unsure of its current state now.

It was revealed in 2021 that Hulu would be adapting the series “A Court of Thorns and Roses” (ACOTAR), with “Outlander’s” Ron Moore appointed as the show’s executive producer.

What is A Court of Thorns and Roses About?
