Director Karyn Kusama recently shared that writer Diablo Cody is currently working on a script for a follow-up film, and it sounds promising. Kusama shared with Deadline that she’s eager to see how the project turns out, knowing it’s currently in development. While she’s keeping the details under wraps, she hinted that it promises to be as exciting and unconventional as the original, and she’s confident Diablo will deliver something amazing.
Kusama shared that she’s pleased Jennifer’s Body has become a beloved cult classic, especially since the movie wasn’t initially successful when it was released in theaters.
She explained that it meant a lot to her, personally, for her film Jennifer’s Body to be seen as the opposite of a beloved classic film she admires. The thought of Jennifer’s Body becoming someone’s all-time favorite, like The Godfather is for others, genuinely makes her happy.
Fans Have Been Craving a Jennifer’s Body Sequel For Years
Starring Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried, Jennifer’s Body tells the story of Jennifer, a high school cheerleader, who becomes possessed by a demon after a terrible night. The demon gives her a craving for human flesh, and she starts killing her male classmates. Her best friend, Anita “Needy” Lesnicki, gets caught up in the chaos as she desperately tries to stop the killings. While the movie wasn’t successful when it first came out and received mixed reviews, it’s now considered a feminist classic. Many people now see it as a powerful commentary on female anger and the desire for revenge, and as a great example of a strong female friendship.
Fans have been hoping for a sequel to the film for years, and it sounds like one might finally be happening.
