If you grew up in the ’90s, head over to Netflix! A much-loved fantasy film from that decade has just become available on the streaming service. Netflix already has a great collection of nostalgic movies, including classics like My Girl and The Sandlot, and they added another magical title this March.
The popular 1996 film Matilda, starring Danny DeVito, is now available to stream on Netflix. The movie, which critics loved (earning a 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes) and many grew up with, returned to the platform on March 1st and is already proving popular with viewers. It’s currently ranked at No. 6 on Netflix’s Kids chart in the U.S., ahead of films like Sing, Despicable Me 3, and Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie. Matilda tells the story of a gifted young girl named Matilda, played by Mara Wilson, who discovers she has telekinetic powers and uses them to help herself and her friends.
Matilda Is a ‘90s Classic That Still Holds Up

What makes it so special is its perfect blend of dark, imaginative fantasy and genuinely uplifting storytelling, and it remains as impactful today as it ever was. Despite being a surprisingly dark film for children, Matilda beautifully balances scary, unpleasant characters with a heartwarming story about a smart and courageous young girl.
The movie Matilda is a delightful and inspiring story about a young girl who discovers she has telekinetic powers.
