A Forgotten Spider-Man Is About to Join the Spider-Verse War Against Venom (Exclusive)

As a follower of Marvel comics, I’m excited to remind you about a Spider-Man character that might have slipped your mind, ready to make his mark in the epic clash known as Spider-Verse vs. Venomverse. With Sony’s Spider-Verse animated movies and the growth of the Venom big-screen franchise, it’s become common knowledge among both casual and longtime Spider-Man fans about alternate versions of our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, as well as the expanding Venoms from various realities. Now, this grand collision of worlds is finally here – Spider-Verse vs. Venomverse, a series where all Spiders and symbiotes engage in an ultimate battle to determine the victor. In the latest issue, we’re introduced to a Spider-Man who’s been absent for some time, but first, there’s a mission to save someone.

In the exclusive sneak peek of issue #3 for the series “Spider-Verse vs. Venomverse,” written by Kyle Higgins and Mat Groom, and illustrated by Jim Towe, we find Spider-Prowler (Miles Morales from Earth-2501) under the control of the Venom Hive Mind. The Venom team is discussing their next move regarding Spider-Prowler. If they were to eliminate him, it would give them an advantage. However, Miles is wise to their actions. He recognizes them as bullies who enjoy exerting power over others. Given that his entire world was destroyed by the Kree, he can easily spot such individuals from afar.

In Miles’ strategy, he manages to keep the Venoms occupied while the Spider forces arrive to intervene. Although the battles seem balanced, the climax of Spider-Verse vs. Venomverse #3 hints at a Venom siding with the Spiders, where its symbiote morphs into terrifying snail-like structures.

In the upcoming issue #3 of “Spider-Verse vs. Venomverse,” we’ll be introduced to a Spider-Man who has been overlooked – none other than Takuya Yamashiro, Japan’s homegrown web-slinger! Known for his role in Toei’s Japanese Spider-Man TV series, Takuya is gearing up to make an appearance with a fresh new costume. This innovative design was brought to life by artist Luciano Vecchio, who recently shared some behind-the-scenes details about its creation.

In the tale, a fresh outfit is presented for Takuya, which serves to make him visually distinct from Peter, according to Vecchio’s explanation to CBR. To capture the emotional depth and physical expressiveness of the Japanese Spider-Man universe, he revisited episodes and clips of the show, as well as drawing inspiration from other ’80s Tokusatsu series for stylistic elements such as the scarf and dark lenses. Vecchio shared his ideas and references with writer Mat Groom, eventually arriving at a visual concept that can be summarized as Spider-Man meets Super Sentai.

Takuya Yamashiro’s Spider-Man outfit largely adheres to the traditional Spider-Man aesthetic. The boots and arm cuffs are accented with white, as well as the spider webs on his arms that enable him to glide. He also wears a scarf around his neck. The spider symbol on his chest has a white backdrop. The white detailing in Takuya’s costume resembles the one Peter Parker sports in the Marvel’s Spider-Man video game for PlayStation 4/5.

The battle between Spider-Verse and Venomverse continues unabated, as depicted in issue #3. The spiders and symbiotes find themselves in a precarious situation, sandwiched between an insurmountable obstacle and no escape, desperately trying to prevent their multiverse realms from being erased altogether! Now that the Hive Mind and the Great Web of Life and Destiny have chosen their champions, who will emerge victorious?
