AEW Full Gear featured several championship matches, with titles like the World Championship and Tag Team Championships up for grabs. The event also saw the crowning of the first-ever winner of a brand new AEW Championship, determined by a Casino Gauntlet match. Ultimately, a former WWE wrestler emerged victorious, winning their first championship in AEW.
AEW Full Gear featured the exciting Casino Gauntlet match to determine the very first AEW National Champion. Twelve wrestlers competed for the title, but Ricochet overcame the odds – and several moments where opponents outnumbered him – to win. This victory marks Ricochet’s first title win since joining AEW, making him the inaugural AEW National Champion.

Okay, so as a wrestling fan, let me tell you, Ricochet surviving to be the third person left in that match was amazing on its own. But what makes it even cooler is that he was constantly facing opponents who had the advantage. Like, Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin went down first, but then Ricochet had to battle three Death Riders all at once! It was seriously a tough spot, and he really showed some grit.

There was a funny spot where Ricochet copied the Death Riders’ move, but they didn’t seem thrilled he joined in. His challenges didn’t stop there, as he also faced off against Orange Cassidy and Daddy Magic. Despite everything, Ricochet managed to defeat Kevin Knight while he was going for the pin, securing the win for himself.
Ricochet started with AEW in 2024, following a successful run in WWE, and has quickly made a significant impact. Shortly after joining, he adopted a villainous persona, and since then, he’s been consistently delivering memorable performances, becoming a compelling and disliked antagonist for fans.
As a wrestling fan, I’ve always thought Ricochet was incredibly talented, both as an athlete and an entertainer. But honestly, this year he’s really hit another level. He’s developed this amazing villain persona that just works with his incredible skills. It’s been a fantastic year for him, and now that he’s won the AEW title, I’m genuinely excited to see what he does next – I think even bigger things are on the way!
