HBO is thrilled with the success of its new fantasy series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which has just beaten out the popular medical drama, The Pitt, in the ratings. The close competition between these two shows has brought in huge numbers of viewers for HBO.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms averaging 13 million views per episode
The biggest news is how well ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ is being watched. HBO says the ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel is averaging nearly 13 million viewers per episode in the U.S. across all platforms. With most of its first season already released, the show is expected to have the third-largest debut of any series on HBO Max.
The show is gaining popularity with each episode. Episode 5, “In the Name of the Mother,” attracted 9.2 million viewers across all platforms in the U.S. within its first three days. HBO says viewership has increased week after week, with each new episode performing better than the last. Episode 4 saw an even bigger boost because it aired early, coinciding with the Super Bowl. The season will conclude on February 22nd, and everything suggests it will be a huge success for ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.’
Although ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ is currently the most popular show, ‘The Pitt’ isn’t far behind. Season 2 of ‘The Pitt’ is attracting around 12 million viewers per episode – a remarkable 50% increase from its first season. This shows people are really enjoying the show and continuing to tune in.
The popular medical drama has been renewed for a third season and is gaining viewers each week. The sixth episode of its current 15-episode run attracted 7 million viewers in the U.S. within its first three days. With the seventh episode released today, the show, which offers a gripping, real-time look at a Pittsburgh trauma center (according to Variety), continues to build momentum.
As a huge HBO fan, I’m telling you, they’ve absolutely killed it to start the year! Both ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ and ‘The Pitt’ have drawn massive audiences – it’s a really strong one-two punch of shows that’s got everyone talking.
