A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2 casts Bohemian Rhapsody and Mum favourites in major roles

Season two of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will introduce new characters to Dunk and Egg’s journey, and the actors who will play them have now been announced.

The cast of the show is growing! Lucy Boynton will play Lady Rohanne, Babou Ceesay will be Ser Bennis, and Peter Mullan will take on the role of Ser Eustace Osgrey.

In George R.R. Martin’s second story about Dunk and Egg, The Sworn Sword, the pair find themselves involved in a tense conflict a year and a half after the events of the first novella. These two characters are central to the story’s plot.

Virginia Boynton is recognized for her performances in films like A Cruel Love: The Ruth Ellis Story and Bohemian Rhapsody. Babou Ceesay recently appeared in Alien: Earth and Damilola, Our Loved Boy, and Peter Mullan has a diverse filmography, with notable roles in Ozark and I Swear.

The first season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has been well-received by both critics and viewers, offering a noticeably different feel compared to other shows in the Game of Thrones universe.

The show has closely followed the books by George R.R. Martin, and according to showrunner Ira Parker, season 2 will continue that trend.

He jokingly told TopMob that the second book will be set during a drought. He explained that Belfast, where they’ve filmed before, is unsuitable because it rains there every day. Therefore, they’ll be filming somewhere else to find a location that looks dry.

He mentioned that Egg will soon be more involved, and that Dexter has been training, suggesting viewers will be impressed with what they see.

Several characters from season one, like Egg’s father Maekar (played by Sam Spruell), won’t be returning for the next season.

In a recent interview with TopMob, Spruell shared that while he isn’t currently planned to return for season two, he’s hoping his character, Maekar, makes another appearance – admitting it’s a personal wish.

I really enjoy playing flawed fathers – characters who constantly mess up and then see those same mistakes mirrored in their kids. It’s a particularly heartbreaking dynamic to explore.

I found the dynamic between Maekar and Egg really compelling, especially how Egg’s strength subtly undermined Maekar’s power. I especially enjoyed seeing that conflict play out, and I’m hoping the character returns in future stories.
