A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2 release date speculation, latest news

*Warning: Spoilers ahead for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 1 finale.*

Okay, so I just finished the first season of ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,’ and wow! As a huge George R.R. Martin fan, I was really excited for this ‘Game of Thrones’ adaptation, and it totally delivered. Dunk and Egg are just fantastic – they’ve quickly become my new favorite characters. Seriously, everyone’s talking about them!

Peter Claffey’s character, the Hedge Knight, barely survived a dangerous encounter and is continuing his travels with his squire, Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell). An episode revealed that Egg is actually a prince from the Targaryen family.

But what will happen next and where will their journey take them?

Read on for everything we know so far about A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2 release date speculation

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2 will be released in 2027, it has been confirmed.

We don’t have a more specific release date yet, but we expect it to be early in the year, possibly as early as January, to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the first season.

Progress seems to be going swimmingly on season 2, as it’s already filming.

According to showrunner Ira Parker, the second season will consist of six episodes, similar in scope to the first, and possibly even more focused.

We’re working with the same budget as before, but rising costs mean things are more expensive. Also, because the story now takes place during a drought, we can’t film outside in Belfast like we did last season. We need a dry, sunny location, and that travel and filming will add a significant expense to the budget.

I’m really enjoying the second season. It feels like a fresh direction, and I’m optimistic it will be even better than the first.

Who will be in the cast of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2?

Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell are confirmed to reprise their roles as Dunk and Egg in the second season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

Okay, so if this season sticks to the source material, prepare for a pretty big cast shake-up. We’re likely going to see a lot of new faces, and unfortunately, that means some favorites won’t be returning. Specifically, Egg’s family, including his dad, Maekar, played by Sam Spruell, isn’t expected to be involved this time around. It seems they’re really leaning into a fresh start with the characters.

We’ve learned that season two will be adapted from the novella “The Sworn Sword,” and these characters are expected to be featured:

  • Peter Claffey as Dunk
  • Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg
  • TBC as Lady Rohanne Webber AKA The Red Widow
  • TBC as Ser Eustace Osgrey of Standfast
  • TBC as Ser Bennis the Brown

What will be the plot of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2?

We’re keeping some details under wraps, but the next installment will continue the story of Dunk and Egg’s journey through The Reach, following the events of The Sworn Sword.

During their time there, they become entangled in a conflict between Lady Rohanne Webber, known as The Red Widow, and Ser Eustace Osgrey.

The showrunner, Parker, has hinted at more involvement for Egg in upcoming episodes. He mentioned that Egg has been getting some action training, and fans should expect to see impressive results from Dexter.
