As a huge fan of both Marvel and DC, I’ve always dreamed of seeing these universes collide on screen! It’s happened in the comics a bunch of times, and even though superhero movies have had a bit of a bumpy ride lately, the idea of a Marvel/DC movie still gets me excited. Honestly, it would be a huge undertaking, but imagine the possibilities! Luckily, it’s not just about movies. Both Marvel and DC characters are everywhere – in shows, games, and more. And now, it sounds like theme park visitors might be the first to experience a crossover, which is awesome! I’m really hoping this opens the door for even more exciting collaborations.
Warner Bros. Discovery is considering licensing its DC characters for use in new theme park rides and attractions, according to a report in Bloomberg. Universal Studios, which already features a popular Marvel-themed area with rides like the Incredible Hulk Coaster and The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, is a potential partner. It’s unclear how such a deal would affect Universal’s existing agreement with Marvel. Bloomberg reports that these discussions are only beginning.
Marvel and DC at Universal Studios Would Be Great for Fans

Six Flags already features DC Universe areas, but expanding that partnership could be exciting. If Universal Studios wins the bid, it could become the ultimate destination for superhero fans, offering attractions based on characters like Batman, Spider-Man, Superman, and the Hulk. Universal could really innovate, blending storylines and characters from both DC and Marvel. For example, the Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man ride could be updated to feature a team-up between Spider-Man and Superman against villains like Lex Luthor and the Green Goblin.
This idea might actually be more fun to watch unfold than a full-blown Marvel-DC movie. A crossover of that size has never been done before, and it would involve a huge amount of complicated negotiations between the studios. While studios can collaborate (like with Spider-Man being in the Marvel Cinematic Universe), a Marvel/DC crossover would be far more complex, even before anyone starts writing the story. Everyone has strong opinions about how the Marvel and DC universes should meet, making it incredibly difficult to create a plot that satisfies most fans and gives all the characters a fair portrayal. Even a very long movie wouldn’t have enough time to properly showcase everyone, meaning some heroes would inevitably get less attention.
When it comes to theme parks, many of the usual worries about movie universes don’t matter. Universal Studios has a lot of freedom with both Marvel and DC properties. Instead of focusing on how rides fit into existing storylines or sharing profits, they can simply prioritize fun and give each hero the spotlight they deserve across different attractions. Universal could even create opportunities for fans to meet characters from both Marvel and DC together. Having a Marvel theme park license doesn’t create a conflict of interest because theme parks are different from movies and TV shows.
Universal Studios and Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) have a successful history together, demonstrated by the popular Wizarding World of Harry Potter attraction. This existing relationship could give Universal an edge if they begin talks about a potential partnership. Warner Bros. knows Universal is skilled at creating immersive theme park experiences, and it would be exciting to see them bring DC characters to life in a new way.
