Since Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist was first published almost 200 years ago, it’s been adapted for television, film, and stage many times. However, The Artful Dodger brings a new energy to the classic story. The first season of the series earned high praise, with a 92% rating from critics and a 96% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. It updates the Dickensian world with a modern feel, moving the story from London to Australia and mixing medical drama, romance, and thrilling crime. The show retains the original’s charm, humor, and spirit, while cleverly continuing the story in a way that appeals to a wide range of viewers.
Season 2 of The Artful Dodger continues the adventures of Jack, Fagin, and Lady Belle, and it looks set to be as good as, or even better than, the first season. While official ratings aren’t available yet, early reviews suggest it’s a strong sequel – both emotionally powerful and a fun, quick-paced watch. Collider went so far as to call it one of the best historical series of the decade. The new season starts right after the exciting Season 1 finale, with the Artful Dodger in serious trouble, facing arrest, and being pursued by a new police officer. There’s no news yet about the show’s future after Season 2, and considering it took a year for Season 2 to be greenlit after the first, fans might be waiting a while for an update.
