A new National Lampoon film?
Now that Christmas is over, and with the popular movie National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation still fresh in many minds – especially with the recent documentary about Chevy Chase – there’s exciting news about a new National Lampoon film in the works.
Who’s behind a new National Lampoon film?
The upcoming film, currently known as ‘National Lampoon’s Hollywood Hustle,’ was co-written by Paul Sloan and Mike Hatton. Hatton is also making his directorial debut with the movie, and will star alongside Sloan, who plays a faded movie star. The story follows the pair as they attempt to rescue a failing film production in Los Angeles after the production funds are stolen.
The rumoured cast….
I’m so excited about the cast they’re putting together for this movie! Apparently, Mickey Rourke, Alec Baldwin, Nick Cannon, Tara Reid, Danny Trejo, Til Schweiger, Carrot Top, and Patrick Warburton are all going to be in it – it’s a seriously interesting group of people, and they all have such unique stories. I’ve heard Nick Cannon is playing a Hollywood agent who tries to get Alec Baldwin on board the project to help the main character. And get this – Alec Baldwin, Mickey Rourke, Tara Reid, and Danny Trejo are supposedly playing exaggerated, over-the-top versions of themselves! It sounds wild.
The National Lampoon film back catalogue …..
I’ve always been a huge fan of the National Lampoon comedies, though they really went up and down in quality. Of course, ‘Animal House’ is a classic – it made an incredible $141 million! And ‘Vacation’ from 1983 did really well too, bringing in $61 million. But honestly, it’s Chevy Chase’s ‘Vacation’ movies that I adore most. ‘European Vacation’ was fun, ‘Christmas Vacation’ is practically required viewing every holiday season, and even ‘Vegas Vacation’ has its moments. With the recent documentary about Chevy and him turning 83 this year, I think it’s safe to say we probably won’t see him as Clark Griswold again, which is a little sad. And while they’re part of the same series, the ‘Van Wilder’ films just don’t quite reach the same level of enjoyment for me.
Further details confirming a new National Lampoon film are expected soon
