Bandai Namco Entertainment surprised fans today by announcing a new role-playing game coming March 5th at 3 PM Pacific Time / 6 PM Eastern Time. They haven’t shared many details yet, but a message on their YouTube channel hints at trouble ahead, saying, “A serenity soon to be disturbed.”
Honestly, my first thought is we’re finally going to get an announcement for a new Tales game. Tales of Arise came out back in September 2021 on consoles and PC (and a Switch 2 version is dropping this May!), and it’s done really well. As of February 2024, it’s sold over three million copies and people generally loved it, so it makes sense they’d want to build on that success.
Although another updated version of a game is always a possibility, it seems unlikely Bandai Namco would hint at one. The quiet announcement of Tales of Berseria Remastered – and the fact that many fans still question why it was even made – shows they don’t always build hype. However, given the strong demand for a game like Tales of Xillia 2 Remastered, a reveal isn’t entirely out of the question.
The most ambitious possibility is an announcement from FromSoftware. Besides The Duskbloods, which they’re publishing solely for the Nintendo Switch 2, the Elden Ring developers haven’t shared details about any other upcoming games. What exactly it could be remains a mystery – we’re just as curious as you are! We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
