If you enjoy Pixar films, you probably already have a Disney+ subscription. Disney+ is where you can find all of Pixar’s movies, including their latest release. While the movie received positive reviews when it first came out, it didn’t do well in theaters and many people missed it. Now that it’s available on Disney+, more Pixar fans have a chance to see it, and there’s optimism it will find a larger audience.
Pixar’s summer sci-fi film, *Elio*, received generally positive reviews, earning an 83% rating from critics and a 90% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, despite the good reception, the film didn’t make back its production costs at the box office, grossing around $154 million worldwide. *Elio* reportedly cost between $150 and $200 million to make.
Even though it didn’t do as well in theaters, *Elio* is loved by many, and now even more people can watch it! The Pixar film became available on Disney+ Wednesday, giving subscribers a new adventure. It’s the third big movie to stream on Disney+ this spring and summer, after *Lilo & Stitch* and Marvel’s *Thunderbolts*.
Disney+’s new movie, *Elio*, is off to a great start! Just one day after it began streaming, it’s become the most popular title on the platform, surpassing *Thunderbolts* to claim the number one spot. It will be interesting to see if *Elio* continues to be a hit in the coming weeks.
What Is Elio About?
Pixar’s *Elio* is their first completely new movie in two years, coming after the surprise success of *Elemental* in 2023. The film centers on Elio, a boy fascinated by space and the possibility of alien life. When he’s accidentally launched into space and confused for an important leader, Elio finds himself on an incredible adventure.
