A Pokemon Mega Evolution Is Finally Getting Its First Card Ever

As a dedicated fan of the Pokémon Trading Card Game, I can’t help but appreciate the intricate dance that goes on behind the scenes. The release schedule for mainline games in the series is remarkably tight, with only a few years between each new installment. This puts tremendous pressure on the card designers to quickly introduce cards based on fresh characters and gameplay mechanics before collectors start eagerly anticipating the next big thing. For instance, Mega Evolutions were once a staple in the TCG, but their reign eventually ended as the focus shifted towards more contemporary elements of the games.

Unfortunately, not all Mega Evolutions have been included in the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG). Initially, popular figures like Mega Charizard, Mega Venusaur, and Mega Blastoise were given precedence, while others didn’t make an appearance before the mechanic was retired. However, good news! The Mega Evolution is coming back to the franchise this year, and The Pokémon Company is now introducing one missing Mega Evolution through a dedicated card.
To mark the upcoming release of Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia next month, temporary Pokémon Card Store pop-ups will open in Japan. The Pokémon Company has created a website with more details, and fans have spotted some unannounced cards, although the images are somewhat fuzzy. Four of these cards were recently shared by PokeGuardian on Bluesky, and you can find them in the post linked below.

The new Pokémon cards featured in previews of the upcoming Pokémon Card Store include Mega Abomasnow, Mega Absol, Mega Mawile, and Mega Camerupt. Check them out at www.pokemon-card.com/info/004753… #PokemonTCG #PokemonCardGame #PokemonCard

In my gaming world, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news about the Pokemon Trading Card Game! The legendary trio – Mega Mawile, Mega Camerupt, and a familiar face, Mega Absol, are making their comeback. But here’s what truly excites me – Mega Abomasnow is stepping into the spotlight for the very first time in the TCG! You see, Mega Abomasnow was one of the original Mega Evolutions introduced back in 2013’s Pokemon X and Y games. However, it never received its due recognition in the TCG… until now.

It’s not just Mega Abomasnow that missed out initially; others like Mega Beedrill and Mega Banette were also overlooked. But who knows? With the new sets on the horizon, we might see more of these skipped Mega Evolutions finally getting their moment. For now, though, it’s a victory to see one of them, Mega Abomasnow, finally receiving its own dedicated card!

The reintroduction of Mega Evolution in the Pokemon Trading Card Game is timed with the launch of Pokemon Legends: Z-A, scheduled for October 16th. This upcoming game marks the comeback of Mega Evolution to mainline games after a long hiatus, and rumors indicate an influx of new Mega Evolutions. At present, it seems that initial card sets will concentrate on existing Mega Evolutions, while those released post-October or around the same time as the game will showcase the new ones.

On July 22nd, we can expect a Pokemon Presents livestream, which is likely to unveil fresh insights into the upcoming game, Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Additionally, there might be other exciting announcements in store. With the game’s launch just three months away, this stream could offer a sneak peek at some of the brand new Mega Evolutions that are planned. Mega Evolution had taken a break for a while, but it seems that fans will soon have plenty to look forward to, both in the upcoming video game and the Trading Card Game, over the next few months.
