Gogmazios joined Monster Hunter Wilds in late 2025 with Update 4, and the update includes some exciting changes beyond just the new Elder Dragon. Along with the new monster, gear has been significantly improved, giving players more options for creating effective character builds. Update 4 also lets you convert older items, leading to even more diverse and interesting equipment combinations.

The Gogmazios update for MH: Wilds introduced the ability to craft powerful Gogma Artian weapons. These are enhanced versions of Artian weapons, and when crafted, they randomly gain bonus skills and a group skill, offering a lot of customization. Armor also received a boost, benefiting from the skills you equip, adding even more options for players to tailor their gear.

MH Wilds Introduced Ways To Transcend Old Armor Sets In Its Gogmazios Update

Title Update 4 introduces Transcendence, a way for experienced Hunters to improve their older armor. After reaching Hunter Rank 100 or higher, you can upgrade Rarity 5 or 6 armor pieces to make them almost as strong as the best Rarity 7 or 8 armor. Upgrading a piece of armor costs materials, but generally requires fewer items than it did to originally create it.

You can upgrade your armor – like helmets, coils, or boots – using Hunter Symbols and rare monster parts, such as Gems or Plates. This process, called transcending, increases the number of decoration slots on the armor. This lets you add higher-level decorations to gear that might otherwise be a bit weaker. For instance, a Level 5 helmet with one slot for a Level 2 decoration and another for a Level 1 decoration can be upgraded to have the same three decoration slots as a Level 8 Arkveld Helm.

With the right materials, almost any Alpha or Beta armor set can become equally effective through a process called transcending. Transcending not only boosts an armor’s upgrade potential, letting you use Armor Spheres to increase its defense, but also improves its overall protective capabilities. By fully upgrading a transcended armor piece, you can significantly reduce the chance of being defeated in a single hit by powerful monsters.

Evolving Old Armor Sets Makes Every Monster Worth Hunting Again

This update for Monster Hunter Wilds addresses a key problem: the best armor was previously limited to only a few endgame monsters. Specifically, armor from Gore Magala, Arkveld, and newer monsters like Lagiacrus and Seregios had the most customization options, making them popular choices for powerful builds. Now, thanks to a new feature called transcendence, almost every monster in the game can provide armor with similar levels of customization.

The recent updates give players a good reason to continue fighting weaker monsters and using older armor. Many monsters now offer special bonuses for equipping multiple pieces of their armor, which lets players experiment with different builds. Plus, these lower-level armor pieces can still be upgraded to be quite strong, so there’s no disadvantage to using them.

Armor sets from a wider range of monsters – including Balahara, Doshaguma, Guardian Fulgur Anjanath, Odogaron, Ajarakan, and even classic monsters like Rathalos and Rathian – can now be upgraded to the same powerful level as armor from the toughest creatures like Jin Dahaad and Nu Udra. This gives players more incentive to hunt all kinds of monsters, not just the ones needed for the best gear. While upgrading armor requires additional materials, this system is a great addition that makes the game’s hunting loop more diverse and enjoyable.

Eventual DLC Expansions Will Have New Endgame Content That Benefits From Armor Changes

Even with more monsters planned for MH Wilds in future updates, the changes to transcendence armor will remain valuable. The increased decoration slots and upgrade potential mean you can combine transcended armor with gear from future DLC, opening up many more options for creating powerful builds. Unlike before, where new monster gear mostly worked with other high-rarity sets, you can now mix and match it with almost any armor piece.

What truly sets MH Wilds apart is its potential, even if it doesn’t quite hit the mark on everything. It’s exciting to think about the future updates planned before the next big expansion, similar to what we saw with MH Rise and Sunbreak or MH World with Iceborne. The game could add even more ways to improve armor and weapons, giving players tons of options to create their ideal character builds.

As a longtime fan, I have to say the endgame in Monster Hunter Wilds feels incredible! The new Transcend and Gogma Artian weapons really shake things up, and there are so many cool armor builds to experiment with. It’s not just fun for now, either – the way they’ve designed things with this level of flexibility means future DLC can seamlessly add new monsters, features, and systems without feeling clunky.
