I was really surprised to hear that a popular anime on Crunchyroll is facing a significant delay – we’re now looking at a year-long wait for new episodes! 2026 has already been a fantastic year for anime, with plenty more exciting releases planned. However, there’s one series fans were eagerly anticipating that won’t be back this year. The news about its second season just came out, and unfortunately, it’s not what anyone wanted to hear.
The romantic comedy anime Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian quickly gained a dedicated fanbase and was set to return with a new season this year. However, a recent announcement on the series’ official channels revealed that Season 2 will now be delayed until 2027. This delay is to allow more time to ensure the season meets a high standard of quality.
Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian Season 2 Delayed to 2027

The second season of Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian, originally planned for release in 2026, has been delayed and will now come out in 2027. The production team says they need more time to ensure the season is high quality. While a second season was announced shortly after the first one finished in 2024, the 2026 release date wasn’t set until 2025, suggesting they realized they needed additional time to complete it.
Fans will have to wait three years for the next season, which isn’t the longest break they’ve ever faced. It’ll be a difficult wait, especially since the first season offered a unique and captivating romance with a fantastic main couple. The studio behind it, Doga Kobo (known for shows like Oshi no Ko), really raised the bar in terms of visual quality. If the second season is even half as good, it’ll definitely be worth the wait.
How to Watch Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian

Okay, so the second season is delayed by a year, and yeah, that’s a little disappointing! But honestly, it’s a perfect opportunity for anyone who hasn’t discovered Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian yet to binge the first season. You can find it streaming on Crunchyroll right now, which is awesome. We don’t know for sure if Crunchyroll will stream the new season when it finally comes out next year, but they definitely have time to work it out, and I’m hoping they do!
I’m so excited about this anime! What’s really cool is they’ve done dubs in both Japanese and English, and thankfully, the story works perfectly in either language. The setup is brilliant: Alisa has a crush on her classmate, Masachika, and playfully teases him in Russian, thinking he has no idea what she’s saying. But here’s the kicker – Masachika also speaks Russian! It leads to some seriously funny misunderstandings, and honestly, it’s a comedy you won’t want to miss.
