Boasting a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes, the highly anticipated premiere of this new horror movie featuring real-life married couple Dave Franco and Alison Brie is generating even greater excitement. Known for their roles in films like “Superbad” and “Now You See Me” (Franco) and “Mad Men” and “The Lego Movie” (Brie), the duo first crossed paths at a Mardi Gras party in New Orleans in 2011, eventually tying the knot in 2017. Their on-screen portrayal of couple Tim and Millie in this 2025 horror movie adds an intriguing layer of authenticity to the storyline, making the film’s dark and gritty themes even more jarring and intense.
In the past, Franco and Brie have collaborated on screen, but their upcoming film “Together,” directed by Michael Shanks in his first directorial venture, promises a unique portrayal of them. Starring as Tim and Millie, the couple grapples with distressing physical transformations after an enigmatic force is encountered in the countryside. U.S. audiences can catch this intriguing tale when it premieres in theaters on July 30, 2025.
2023’s “Somebody I Used to Know” was the debut collaboration between Franco and Brie in writing a movie, with Brie taking on the lead role as Ally, a reality TV series showrunner, while Franco directed. Notably, Brie had previously starred in Franco’s 2020 directorial venture “The Rental,” and they had shared the screen together in “The Little Hours” and “The Disaster Artist” in 2017. The upcoming film, titled “Together,” promises to be their most extreme and disturbing joint project thus far, as the script penned by Shanks delivers suspense, shock, and visceral horror, immersing Tim and Millie in a harrowing co-dependency tale.
As a cinephile, I’m thrilled to have contributed the script for the 2021 Blacklist film titled “Hotel Hotel Hotel Hotel,” alongside several short films. However, it’s my directorial debut with the feature film “Together” in 2025 that has truly captured the spotlight. This horror masterpiece has been garnering immense critical acclaim and praise, thanks to its chilling body horror elements intertwined with romantic comedy themes.
Critics have praised its unique blend of terror and humor, its ingenious casting choices, and the emotional depth it brings to the table. The film seems to masterfully walk the line between fear and fun, making it one of the most eagerly anticipated movies of 2025. This promising reception bodes well for my career following its premiere.
The horror movie “Together” is scheduled to debut in U.S. cinemas on July 30, 2025, having premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 26, 2025. Produced by 30West, Tango Entertainment, Picturestart, 1.21, and Princess Pictures, it will be distributed in the U.S. by NEON and Kismet Movies in Australia. “Together” is a highly-anticipated horror film this year, making it a must-see on the big screen.
