CangMo Game Entertainment has revealed the first trailer for their new game, A Whisper of Fall: Jinyiwei (previously known as Project: Jinyiwei). The over four-minute trailer shows off the game’s story, setting, and how it plays.
The game features a key ability called “Heavenly Deduction” that lets the main character rewind time to alter the results of his missions. The trailer quickly demonstrates this: the hero, who is a simple boatman, tries to infiltrate a heavily guarded castle to complete an assassination. If a direct approach fails – like the target escaping – the player can use Heavenly Deduction to go back in time and try waiting until nightfall instead.
Under the cover of night, the hero sneaks into the castle and steals the Guard Commander’s Token. With this token, he can enter the castle during the day and kill his target without anyone being alerted, then simply walk away.
The game’s combat is heavily inspired by Wuxia films and features a variety of traditional weapons like spears, dual blades, and swords. Battles are quick and dynamic, emphasizing acrobatic moves – one fight even happens while characters are running on a wall!
The game isn’t just inspired by Wuxia in its fighting style. The main character is exceptionally nimble, able to jump across roofs, climb over things, and even run on walls. We also saw how fighting and movement blend together – the character smoothly transitioned from a battle into running across the side of a ship.
I was really checking out the trailer for A Whisper of Fall: Jinyiwei, and while we didn’t see a full boss fight, I did spot an enemy with a big health bar. They weren’t just swinging swords either – they were launching fire attacks! What really got my attention, though, was the posture bar on enemies. That makes me think the combat is going to be a lot like Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, which is awesome. It seems like timing and breaking an enemy’s defenses will be a big part of the gameplay.
Although we don’t yet know the full layout of A Whisper of Fall: Jinyiwei, the game appears to offer players a lot of flexibility in how they tackle challenges, thanks to a feature called Heavenly Deduction. This action RPG is set during the late Ming Dynasty, and players will take on the role of an undercover agent working for the black market, tasked with infiltrating the Jinyiwei – the Imperial Guards of that time.
In A Whisper of Fall: Jinyiwei, you’ll experience action and stealth, but also investigate mysteries as an Imperial Guard. This involves questioning people and using your detective skills to uncover the truth and find the real criminal.
The game A Whisper of Fall: Jinyiwei will be released on PC (through Steam, the Epic Games Store, and WeGame) and PlayStation 5. A specific release date hasn’t been announced yet.
