Following his announcement that he had married Brittani, the NFL quarterback explained what he thinks went wrong in his previous relationships.

Let me tell you, I really went down a rabbit hole there for a while. As I shared on the Pat McAfee Show recently, I found myself surrounded by people who actively created a public life for me – they were the ones calling the paparazzi, sharing where I lived, and even pushing me to post things on social media that I wasn’t comfortable with. Honestly, a very public life was never something I actually wanted.

The 42-year-old explained that his family had been publicly criticizing him for years without him responding. He finally decided to speak up when he felt they’d gone too far and were simply making false statements.

Aaron Rodgers has been distanced from his family – including his parents, Ed and Darla Rodgers, and brothers Jordan and Luke Rodgers – for quite some time. Jordan Rodgers publicly discussed their strained relationship on The Bachelorette in 2016, claiming the issues started when Aaron began dating Olivia Munn that same year.

Soon after the couple broke up, the former New Girl star revealed she was unfairly blamed by the public for the long-running conflict with Aaron Rodgers’ family. However, in his 2024 biography, Out of the Darkness: The Mystery of Aaron Rodgers, Aaron clarified that she played no part in the years of deep-seated issues within his family.

These days, the former Green Bay Packers player—who has been linked to both Danica Patrick and was once engaged to Shailene Woodley—doesn’t want to discuss his personal life publicly. He’s asking the media to stop spreading stories about his relationships.

Aaron told Pat McAfee that he wants certain people to simply let it go, noting it’s been years since past issues. He asked them to stop spreading false information about him, and pointed out that others in the media seem to feel they need to mention his name to stay relevant. He emphasized that he isn’t trying to gain attention or relevance himself.

He’s prioritizing a private life with his wife, intentionally keeping her last name and job private. Interestingly, he’s very open about one aspect of their relationship: their intimate life.

He said he wants to maintain his attractiveness and keep the desire alive in his marriage. He acknowledged it becomes more challenging with age, as maintaining physical fitness and energy levels requires more effort and doesn’t happen as easily as it once did.

I’ve been following this athlete for a while now, and it’s great to see that even during the off-season, he’s really dedicated to staying in shape, both mentally and physically. He’s put together a whole plan to keep himself active and engaged, which is awesome!

While Rodgers had been a part-owner of the Bucks since 2018 and had previously sat with Edens at games, speculation increased when both posted photos from an Ed Sheeran concert in New Jersey in June 2023. In April 2025, Aaron Rodgers revealed to Pat McAfee that he was in a committed relationship—so committed, in fact, that he had gotten married.

Rumors of a wedding began circulating after people noticed a ring on his finger at both the Kentucky Derby in May 2025 and when he signed his contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers in June.

During his first press conference with the Steelers, he confirmed the ring was a wedding band and said he’d been married for a few months, though he didn’t confirm if his wife is named Brittani.

Aaron may be choosing to keep details private due to his dislike of public attention. He’s previously discussed how relationships with public figures created unwanted scrutiny. In his 2024 Netflix documentary, Aaron Rodgers: Enigma, he admitted he initially “despised” the attention that came with being a Super Bowl MVP and State Farm spokesperson, as it made enjoying a private life difficult.
