ABC Confirms Who Dies In Will Trent Ahead Of Season 4 Debut

ABC has revealed a major death that will occur in season 4 of Will Trent. The show is returning later than usual – along with other popular programs – as ABC delays them until the latter part of the 2025-2026 TV season. Because Will Trent has performed well in ratings, ABC decided to keep it on the schedule. While the extended break is annoying, the cliffhanger ending of season 3 is making the wait even harder for fans.

The season 3 finale of Will Trent had a lot of shocking moments. The biggest surprise was Angie revealing she’s pregnant with Seth’s baby, which will likely be a major plot point in future seasons. Beyond that, the GBI faced a crisis that nearly cost two of their top agents their lives. Amanda was shot and seriously injured during a shootout, and her fate was uncertain at the end of the episode. Also, Ormewood passed out, possibly due to complications from his brain tumor.

Nobody Dies In Will Trent Season 4 After Ormewood & Amanda’s Cliffhanger

It was a risky move for the ABC show to end its season with two life-or-death cliffhangers, as it could have upset viewers if those storylines went nowhere. Luckily, for fans of the show – and for the production company GBH – neither Amanda nor Ormewood will die. A new promotional clip confirms that both Jake McLaughlin and Sonja Sohn will return, meaning their characters survived their dangerous situations.

Fans concerned that the cliffhanger might be a fake-out can rest a little easier. According to TVLine, the fourth season of Will Trent will begin five months after the events of season 3. Both Ormewood and Amanda are recovering from their injuries, though they’ll still show the scars – both physical and emotional – of what happened. While they both survived, their near-death experiences will definitely continue to affect the storyline.

Why Will Trent Season 4 Is Better Off Not Killing Anyone

Premiering in 2023, Will Trent is a recent addition to network television and has quickly gained a dedicated following – a feat not common for procedural dramas lately. However, history shows that shows like Will Trent often make big changes around this point in their run. For instance, season 3 of Tracker saw the departure of Colter’s entire team, and season 4 of Fire Country began with Vince and Gabriela leaving the show.

ABC is making a smart choice by avoiding any major cast changes on Will Trent right now. The show already has a lot going on – Angie’s pregnancy and the unfolding story of Will’s family – and adding a significant death could make things overly complicated for viewers.
