Animation studio Supamonks and game publisher Dotemu have teamed up to create an animated series based on the action-packed game Absolum. The series, and the game itself, will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC (through Steam) starting October 9.
The animated series will be produced with oversight from Supamonks, and they’ve committed to maintaining the core spirit of the original game. Interestingly, Supamonks was also responsible for all of the game’s artistic design and animation. They are very familiar with the source material.
“We’re really thrilled to be creating this animated series, as Supamonks has been part of the Absolum project from the beginning,” explained Supamonks CEO Julien Bagnol-Roy in a statement. “Our teams have played a key role in developing this universe since day one, and turning it into an animated series feels like a natural and exciting progression of our work. It’s a fantastic chance to bring a fresh perspective to a world we’re already so familiar with.”
As a big fan, I was really excited to hear from Dotemu CEO Cyrille Imbert about Absolum! He said that because it’s their first original game, they’ve put extra care into every part of its development. He’s so confident in the game’s story, art, and characters that he believes it would make an amazing TV series – and honestly, I agree! He also explained that Supamonks is the perfect partner to bring this ambitious project to life, because of their fantastic work and how involved they were in shaping the game’s artistic vision. I can’t wait to see what they create!
