The Absolute Batman series has brought many well-known characters from Gotham into the Absolute Universe, often with surprising twists. We’ve already seen new versions of Killer Croc, The Penguin, The Riddler, The Joker, Catwoman, and Alfred Pennyworth, all influenced by Darkseid. Now, DC is hinting that the Batman character fans have been most eager to see will be arriving soon.
DC Comics has just unveiled the cover for Absolute Batman #20, featuring artwork by Nick Dragotta. Although the cover is partially hidden, it confirms that Robin will appear in this issue. The complete, unredacted cover will be shown in early April, but you can see a sneak peek of the Robin reveal now.
What On Earth Will An Absolute DC Version of Robin Look Like?

The ‘Absolute Batman’ storyline presents a unique take on Batman’s villains. Instead of being criminals, these versions of the Rogues Gallery are Bruce Wayne’s friends who are horribly changed by Bane. This creates a deeply personal conflict for Batman. Given this new dynamic, it raises the question of how Robin fits into the story.
A major character will die in issue #20 of the Absolute Batman series. The issue’s description hints that after a significant loss in Gotham City, someone will begin a hunt for answers, and several secrets will be uncovered.
It’s easy to miss, but the cover also features a picture of Ra’s Al Ghul at the bottom. Since he’s currently appearing in Absolute Superman, could this suggest a connection between this Robin and Ra’s, potentially leading to a version of Damian Wayne appearing as well?
Honestly, Damian Wayne seems like a more natural fit for this storyline than Dick Grayson or Tim Drake, although Jason Todd could also thrive in this environment. The hint about Ra’s al Ghul makes Damian a likely candidate, and connecting it to another painful event in Batman’s past could create a compelling new direction for the story.
Absolute Batman #20 arrives in comic stores on May 13, 2026.
