The music community has lost a legend.
Ace Frehley, the lead guitarist, vocalist, and a founding member of the band KISS, passed away on October 16th, his family has confirmed. He was 74 years old.
His family shared a statement saying they were deeply saddened by his passing. They were grateful to have been with him in his final moments, offering him love and support. They will always treasure the happy memories, laughter, and kindness he shared with everyone.
Those who knew and loved Frehley shared that his death feels incredibly significant and deeply upsetting.
The statement concluded that Ace’s remarkable life and accomplishments would be fondly remembered always.
TopMob News reached out to Frehley’s management for comment but has not heard back.
Shortly before he died, Frehley cancelled all of his planned concerts for 2025 because of health problems.
After his team reported a small accident in his studio that sent him to the hospital, a decision was made.
A statement posted on his Instagram on September 25th explained that he’s doing okay, but his doctor has advised him not to travel right now, despite his wanting to. Because of this, he unfortunately has to cancel his show at the Antelope Valley Fair in Lancaster, California, scheduled for Friday, September 26th.
As a founding member of the iconic band KISS, alongside Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, and Peter Criss, he helped create popular songs like “I Was Made For Lovin’ You,” “Rock and Roll All Nite,” and “Detroit Rock City.” The band went on to release 14 albums that achieved Platinum status.
The band, known for their elaborate makeup and stage shows, reunited briefly in 2000 after originally disbanding in the early 1980s. In 2014, the original members were honored with induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Oh my god, when Ace talked about getting back together with the guys to accept that award, he said it felt like no time had passed at all! They’re like brothers, you guys, *brothers* in rock and roll! Everyone in the press always tries to make it seem like they hate each other, and it’s just… not true! Ace says it’s all just crazy rumors, and I *knew* it! They have this incredible connection, and it’s so amazing to hear him say it!
Ace Frehley is survived by his daughter, Monique Frehley, age 45, and his former partner, Jeanette Trerotola, who is Monique’s mother.
Despite a recent health struggle, Ace Frehley was actively working on his music right up until his death.
Besides planning his 2025 tour, the musician was also creating his next solo album, titled *Origins Vol. 4*.
Ace Frehley, who has released 11 albums as both Ace Frehley and his stage name, Spaceman, wasn’t just a successful solo musician; he also made significant contributions to music overall.
