Netflix is releasing a new special called One Shot With Ed Sheeran, directed by the filmmaker behind the popular series Adolescence.
This new musical will follow the singer as he journeys through New York City, performing his most popular songs. It will be filmed in one continuous shot – a technique director Philip Barantini also used in his recent film, Adolescence.
One Shot With Ed Sheeran is a special performance where the Grammy-winning artist will walk the streets of New York City and play his biggest songs, all filmed in one continuous shot and in real time.
The film will show Ed Sheeran’s New York experience, from spontaneous performances in public places like streets and subway stations, to personal connections with fans and people he meets. It promises to capture the energy and excitement that surrounds him.
The one-shot special will be released on Netflix on 21st November.

The show *Adolescence* quickly became a success after its release on Netflix in March. It’s now the second most-watched show on the platform and recently won six awards at the Emmys.
I was thrilled when the show won awards for being a limited series, and even more excited that it also took home prizes for directing and writing! To top it all off, three of the actors were recognized with awards too – it was a fantastic night!
Director Barantini explained to TopMob that capturing an audience’s attention is crucial in today’s world. He said that even well-made content often struggles to hold viewers because people are easily distracted by their phones, so a film really needs to be captivating from the start.
He explained that the quick pace of the performance grabs your attention and keeps you completely engaged. You can’t look away for even a moment, because something important will happen if you do, pulling the audience into the experience.
Think of it like watching a play. When you’re at the theater, you’re expected to put your phone away and focus on what’s happening on stage. It requires your full attention.
Ed Sheeran’s latest album, ‘–’ (Play), came out last month, and he just revealed he’ll be touring the UK and Europe this winter.
