Based on the impressive feedback and high viewership, the acclaimed four-part series titled “Adolescence” has further enhanced its success by winning in the New Drama category at the National Television Awards.
In a competition solely decided by popular vote, the series emerged victorious over fellow nominees such as Rivals, MobLand, Code of Silence, and Ludwig.
The series won in a public vote-based category, beating out other finalists like Rivals, MobLand, Code of Silence, and Ludwig.
In a people’s choice showdown, the series came out on top against Rivals, MobLand, Code of Silence, and Ludwig.
The announcement of the show’s victory took place at the awards event held at the O2 in London, where Joel Dommett served as the host.
At the awards ceremony, Jo Hartley (Mrs Fenumore’s star) and executive producer Mark Herbert received the award along with several other essential team members who contributed to the series. They took a moment to express their gratitude towards the fans, the cast, writers Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne, director Philip Barantini, and the entire crew.
Not only did the show win an award, but its lead actor, Jamie’s character portrayed by Owen Cooper, also received the Drama Performance Award. He outshone his fellow cast member, Graham, to secure this honor.
In a simpler way: The series and its leading actor, Owen Cooper (who plays Jamie), both won awards. While there were other strong contenders, including Graham, Cooper was crowned with the title of Drama Performance Award winner.
The following individuals were also finalists in their respective categories: Tom Hardy as Harry Da Souza in MobLand, Rose Ayling-Ellis as Alison Brooks in Code of Silence, and Brenda Blethyn as DCI Vera Stanhope in Vera.
Cooper, currently filming in America, could not make it to the event as he was absent. Consequently, his award was accepted by his co-star, Amari Bacchus, acting on his behalf. During this time, a video message from Cooper expressing gratitude towards his fellow cast members, collaborators, and fans was played.

The show clinched victory recently, following its success as Best Drama at the Edinburgh TV Awards, during which Cooper was additionally recognized with the Breakthrough Performance accolade.
During adolescence, it seemed like a one-time event, but due to its popularity, there have been numerous requests for a sequel or something similar. Thorne hinted that such a project might indeed be in the works.
Perhaps we’ll try producing a single-episode special again, as long as we discover the perfect approach for narrating that specific story.
If such an event were to occur, it would result in a new narrative focused on different characters, as Thorne clarified: “Indeed, the Miller tale has been told. I don’t foresee any plans for spin-offs like, ‘We could focus on this character, or we could focus on that.’ It doesn’t seem to be our intention.
1) We’re keen to continue spinning tales with you and find the current setup appealing. Through our creative journey, we’ve gained valuable insights about it, and we’d love to explore further possibilities if given the chance.
Adolescence can be streamed on Netflix, which you can subscribe to starting at just £5.99 per month. Additionally, Netflix is accessible on Sky Glass and Virgin Media Stream as well.
