With the initial announcement that fresh actors would portray DC Studios’ most prominent heroes, many fans pondered the implications for the trio of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. So far, James Gunn and Peter Safran, co-CEOs at DC Studios, have cast David Corenswet as Superman starting in “Superman,” but no actors have yet been chosen for Batman or Wonder Woman. A recent fan artwork, though, seems to have discovered the ideal actor to succeed Gal Gadot as Diana within the DC Universe, hinting at Adria Arjona from “Andor.
In a piece by Instagram user 70.6ix, Arjona is portrayed as Diana in her famous attire, complete with tiara and the emblematic lasso of truth. The initial shot offers a close-up of Arjona’s interpretation of Diana during combat, while the subsequent image provides a broader perspective that gives us an idea of how she might appear if chosen for the role. The artwork highlights Arjona’s muscular physique, mirroring her frequent representation in comic books, and her costume resembles that from Tom King’s Wonder Woman series.
The fanart can be viewed in the below Instagram post.
Even though it’s unclear exactly when Diana will join the new DC Universe, director James Gunn has hinted at the imminent appearance of another Amazonian hero. During interviews for the upcoming Superman film, Gunn was queried about Nubia and whether she might show up in future DC Universe productions. Without revealing the exact project, he suggested that fans could look forward to her debut in the not-too-distant future.
At the moment, DC Studios is busy developing two projects: the prequel series titled “Paradise Lost,” which will air on HBO Max and delve into events on Themyscira before Diana’s birth, and a fresh take on the “Wonder Woman” movie. While neither project has been cast yet, it seems that “Paradise Lost” is progressing more swiftly in its development than the new “Wonder Woman” film, as Gunn has confirmed that the script for the latter is still being penned.
As a movie critic, I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing the impressive ascent of actress Eiza González in Tinseltown. Her career trajectory began with a captivating performance on the small screen in the series “Unforgettable.” However, it was her 2015 role as Emily in “True Detective” that truly catapulted her to stardom.
Subsequently, González graced our screens in shows such as “Narcos” and “Emerald City.” She’s been a busy bee, appearing in blockbusters like “Pacific Rim: Uprising,” the television series “Good Omens,” Netflix’s “Hit Man,” and most recently, the “Star Wars” series, “Andor.”
In simpler terms, I’ve seen Eiza González make her mark in Hollywood, starting with a notable role on TV, breaking through with a standout performance in “True Detective” in 2015, and continuing to shine in diverse projects ever since.
It’s uncertain if Arjona will play Wonder Woman yet, but Gunn has already commended her for the role, hinting at her potential involvement with DC. Notably, they have collaborated before as she starred in a horror movie that Gunn produced, titled “The Belko Experiment.
The streamable versions of the two live-action “Wonder Woman” films, specifically “Wonder Woman” and “Wonder Woman 1984”, are now on HBO Max. At present, there’s no announced release date for the prequel series “Paradise Lost” or a new live action “Wonder Woman” movie. However, fans can look forward to DC Universe’s initial film debut featuring Superman in theaters later this month.
