The cause of the dog’s passing was not disclosed.

In September 2023, the French bulldog gained significant attention at a national level following accusations of animal cruelty against Qantas by popular Love Island alumna Tayla. This allegation arose when the dog went missing for several hours despite being scheduled to travel on a flight to Perth.

On Instagram, the model and ex-reality TV star expressed strong concerns, saying that Qantas has a significant amount of questions to address.

Initially, Charlie was scheduled to board a plane from Melbourne to Western Australia. However, when the airline’s computerized cargo system malfunctioned, he ended up being stranded.

It was Daily Mail Australia that Qantas acknowledged experiencing delays for their clients, due to a system upgrade on the freight handling platform they undertook at the end of September, which unfortunately resulted in an extended downtime.

Due to a technical issue with the IT system, employees had to handle shipments manually, leading to delays in deliveries at several major airports across the country.

Nathan and the partner of the AFL (Australian Football League) witnessed their cherished pet being ensnared in the hold-ups, asserting that Charlie was confined within a carrier for as long as 14 hours without any sustenance when he was transported from Melbourne to Perth.

They asserted that Qantas failed to inform them about any modifications following the dog not being able to board the flight, and a relative spent hours waiting at Perth airport, eventually learning that the individual had not arrived.

According to a post by Tayla on social media, there’s no information about Charlie’s location. All we know is that he wasn’t on his morning flight.

‘We are unsure if he is currently in the air or still stuck inside a crate at the airport.

It would have been beneficial for us to be notified earlier and allowed time to retrieve our colleague, who might reside in Melbourne, if he is indeed there.

He’s feeling quite unsettled. Exhausted, he couldn’t manage to climb our staircase, dehydrated, with drool coming from his mouth, and generally disorganized.

‘This is disgusting and animal abuse.’

Nathan said Qantas’ ‘excuse’ was that its system was down.

‘You belong in a crate you useless airline!’ he wrote on Instagram.

The airline issued a statement in the wake of the incident apologising to the couple.

Our team routinely verified the pet’s wellbeing, filled its water bowl, and ensured the cage was tidy. We stored the cage somewhere sheltered within our shipping facility until it was ready to be transported,” the representative explained.

The delays resulted in perishable goods like fruits, vegetables, and medications spoiling, as well as a gruesome situation where bodies remained in coffins on the runway, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

Qantas clarified that no coffins were forgotten at airports. Instead, they prioritized the swift delivery of essential medical supplies and the respectful handling of human remains to prevent any potential delays.

The airline said the IT issue had been fixed and domestic backlogs cleared.

In October 2022, after a fast-paced three-year relationship, Tayla (formerly known as Damir) and three-time AFL premiership player Nathan, aged 32, exchanged vows in the Gold Coast hinterland.

The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Sammy, in August 2023.
