After 15 Years, Cancelled Shonen Jump Revival Anime Confirms Fall 2026 Release With New Look

A well-loved anime series, originally cancelled 15 years ago in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, is getting a brand new anime revival this fall. It’s a great time to be a fan of Shonen Jump anime! Not only are popular, ongoing series releasing new content, but older favorites are making comebacks too. We’ve seen a lot of classic franchises return with new anime in recent years.

We’ve recently seen several beloved anime series return, and that trend continues with some less famous titles getting a second chance. Psyren, created by Toshiaki Iwashiro, originally ran for over 100 chapters but was canceled because of falling sales. Now, the series is being revived as a new anime, scheduled to premiere in October 2026 during AnimeJapan 2026. You can see a first look at the updated visuals below.

When Does Psyren Anime Come Out?

The anime adaptation of Psyren is scheduled to premiere in October 2026. While a specific release date hasn’t been announced, and it’s currently unknown if it will be available internationally, details about the production team have been revealed. Katsumi Ono will direct, with animation by Satelight. Shin Yoshida is writing the scripts, Akira Okuma is designing the characters, and the music will be composed by Takashi Ohmama, Tatsuhiko Saiki, and Shu Kanematsu. Fans have been requesting an anime version of this series for years, and it’s now finally becoming a reality.

The anime Psyren has announced more voice actors joining Rikuya Yasuda (as Ageha Yoshina) and Mayuko Kazama (as Sakurako Amamiya). Shunsuke Takeuchi will voice Hiryu Asaga, Soma Saito will play Oboro Mochizuki, and Yukihiro Nozuyama will be Kabuto Kirisaki. A new key visual featuring the main cast gives fans a preview of the show’s overall style.

Psyren Creator Reacts to New Anime Announcement

The manga series Psyren is officially getting an anime adaptation! Creator Toshiaki Iwashiro shared his excitement, saying he can now tell his family about it – something he couldn’t do when the series first came out 15 years ago. The team is heavily involved in writing the scripts, and it sounds like this new version will cover the complete Psyren story. However, the length of the anime hasn’t been announced yet.

The creator also shared they contributed to the script and are excited to see the characters, including Ageha, animated and brought to life. With this revival of the classic Shonen Jump series, many hope the anime adaptation will find greater success with fans than the original manga did.
