Star Wars has shown us a glimpse of what Padmé Amidala could have been like if she’d fallen to the dark side. It’s a tragic irony that Anakin Skywalker tried so desperately to save her, but ultimately became the very thing she would have fought against. Early versions of Revenge of the Sith even included a scene where Padmé tried to stop Anakin on Mustafar, before he tragically killed her in anger.
Darth Vader always struggled with the fact that he’d become the very thing Padmé opposed. He seemed to forget their past arguments about how the government should be run, and he never realized she’d secretly helped other senators fight against him. When he later encountered a rebel group named after her, the Amidalans, who were fighting the Empire on Naboo, it clearly disturbed him. Now, two decades after the events of Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars is finally revealing what Padmé would have been like if she had become the leader Anakin always wanted her to be.
Darth Vader’s Vision of Padmé Looks A Lot Like Vader Himself

In Adam Christopher’s new Star Wars novel, “Master of Evil,” Darth Vader enters an incredibly powerful dark side nexus. Inside, he has a profound, unsettling experience, including a vision of Padmé as a Sith Lord. Interestingly, the version of Padmé he sees bears a striking resemblance to himself.
Okay, so this scene… it’s genuinely chilling. Padmé starts with this small smile, but it quickly twists into a furious glare as she looks up at Vader, her eyes turning this unsettling, Sith-like yellow. And visually, it’s stunning – her pristine white robes actually darken, losing all light until she’s completely swallowed by black. Then these tiny red and green lights start blinking on her outfit, and this… cloak of darkness just grows out of her, completely enveloping her. The moment she lifts Vader’s mask and puts it on… it’s horrifying. You can almost hear the seal forming, this sickening sucking sound, and then this high-pitched whine as the life support kicks in. It’s a truly disturbing transformation, and incredibly well done.
She inhaled deeply, taking slow, steady breaths—each one sounding like the rhythmic, mechanical breathing of Darth Vader.
Darth Vader’s Image of Sith Padmé is A Twisted Nightmare

If Padmé had turned to the dark side as well, the Sith would have been truly invincible. She was a much more skilled politician than most, and as shown in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, she often challenged Palpatine’s plans. He likely only kept her alive because of her impact on Anakin, intending to eliminate her on his own terms. Had she fallen to the dark side, however, Padmé would have been a terrifying opponent for Palpatine – a cunning strategist who could have matched him in power and manipulation.
Thankfully, the terrifying scene we just witnessed was only a vision created by the Force. It showed a possible future for the galaxy, one even more bleak than the current reality, offering no hope for rescue or recovery. The image of Padmé as a dark side user, shown to Darth Vader, was a horrifying nightmare from which the galaxy would likely never have recovered.
