The Naruto manga series began in September 1999 and immediately introduced what would become its main character’s most recognizable move – a technique that went on to become iconic within the franchise. Now, in the latest chapter of its sequel, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Naruto’s famous technique is being revisited with a new element. The current Boruto storyline focuses on the ninja, especially those from Konoha, as they get ready to battle the series’ primary antagonists, the Divine Trees. Recently, Boruto and his ally, Kashin Koji, used their ability to foresee events to warn Konoha Village that Mamushi, one of the Divine Trees, will be leading the attack.
Mamushi is planning to attack Konoha to consume Eida, which he needs to evolve. But the most surprising news from Kashin Koji is that Mamushi can use a technique very similar to Naruto’s famous Shadow Clone Jutsu. In fact, Mamushi’s ability is actually a more powerful version of the original. Though it’s not perfect, the technique is sure to remind fans of Naruto’s, especially since he hasn’t used it much recently.
Boruto‘s New Villain Embodies Naruto’s Iconic Move With an Upgrade

In the latest chapter of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, titled “Bet Your Life On It,” Kashin Koji alerts the Hidden Leaf Village to an impending attack by Mamushi. He also explains Mamushi’s dangerous ability, called Division. Unlike the Shadow Clone Jutsu, which creates weaker copies, Mamushi’s clones are all fully real versions of himself – not just illusions or chakra-based duplicates. This makes Mamushi’s technique far more powerful, as traditional shadow clones are easily defeated. Furthermore, Mamushi can create an unlimited number of these clones because the technique doesn’t require splitting his chakra.
Although Mamushi’s cloning ability makes him incredibly powerful, Kashin Koji points out a weakness. Each time Mamushi creates a clone, the intelligence of all his clones decreases. So, the more clones there are, the less smart they become. However, as clones are destroyed, the remaining ones regain their intelligence. Because each clone can independently create more clones, Kashin Koji stresses that they all need to be defeated at the same time to truly overcome Mamushi.
Despite a significant weakness, Mamushi’s Division Technique is incredibly powerful. Without Boruto fighting, Konoha’s ninja will have a very hard time defending against it. However, skilled fighters like Inojin are getting ready for the battle, now equipped with a new ability. This new information makes Naruto’s signature move even more formidable, and it will be interesting to see how Konoha’s ninja cope with this threat, especially since Boruto isn’t available to help.
