After 4 Years, The MCU’s Most Underrated Show Could Still Get A Season 2

After a few years of inconsistent results, Marvel is adjusting its strategy, with Kevin Feige planning to release fewer projects overall. A major shift will be in television, focusing on shows designed to last for several seasons. While not every idea will move forward, Marvel still intends to create new shows for Disney+. The renewal of Daredevil: Born Again for a third season has sparked discussion about what other series might be in development. Many fans are hoping to see Hawkeye return, and actor Jeremy Renner has shared positive news about the possibility of more episodes.

In an interview with The Playlist, Jeremy Renner discussed the potential for a second season of Hawkeye. He said they were making progress towards it and he anticipates being healthy enough to film it, adding that they’re working out the details and it will be fantastic.

Hawkeye Deserves a Season 2 (but When Could It Happen?)

With Disney+ launching and a lot of competition for viewers, Marvel was asked to create a large amount of content, and the quality varied. A standout success during this period was the first season of Hawkeye. After years of appearing as a supporting character in the Marvel films, the popular hero finally got his own story. It was a welcome change to see a more intimate, grounded Marvel adventure, and the Christmas setting helped it feel unique. Jeremy Renner was great leading the show, and his on-screen chemistry with Hailee Steinfeld was a highlight.

As a huge Marvel fan, I really hope we haven’t seen the last of Hawkeye! Clint Barton is one of the original Avengers who’s still around, and Jeremy Renner has even said his character will keep fighting until the very end. It would be so weird if they just left him out of things completely. Plus, Kate Bishop was amazing in the Hawkeye series – she quickly became a favorite! She deserves more screen time, even if that Young Avengers storyline doesn’t pan out. Honestly, a second season of Hawkeye seems like the perfect way to continue their stories, especially with Marvel building up that more grounded, street-level side of things with shows like Daredevil: Born Again and the new Spider-Man series. Neither Renner nor Steinfeld have been announced for the next Avengers movie yet, so maybe Marvel is planning to bring them back through a Disney+ show instead.

Jeremy Renner says a second season of Hawkeye could have happened already if Disney hadn’t been hesitant to spend money. He previously explained they offered him significantly less – half of what he earned for the first season – to return. He rejected that offer, but remained interested in playing Hawkeye again. Renner’s recent comments suggest they’re now making progress on a potential Season 2, as he wouldn’t be hinting at a return if the show was cancelled or he wasn’t involved.

With a second season of Hawkeye looking likely, a major question is when it will be released. Currently, no filming has begun and there’s no set production schedule. If everything goes according to plan, filming probably won’t start until sometime next year, potentially leading to a release in 2027. However, the timing could also depend on Marvel’s overall plans for the Multiverse Saga, and the studio might choose to wait until after Avengers: Secret Wars before moving forward.
