A popular, but often censored, fantasy anime available on Crunchyroll is getting a third season – five years after its second! Anime frequently sparks debate with its content, and some shows definitely go further than others. However, this particular series seems to attract more unfair criticism when compared to anime with more obvious controversial elements.
The anime How Not to Summon a Demon Lord is getting a third season! The second season faced some controversy due to increased censorship, but the series remains popular. To celebrate the announcement, a special illustration for Season 3 has been released and you can view it below.
How Not to Summon a Demon Lord Season 3 Announced After 5 Years

The third season of How Not to Summon a Demon Lord is officially titled How Not to Summon a Demon Lord ULT, but details are still scarce. Kadokawa has only released a new illustration by the light novel’s artist, Takahiro Tsurusaki, and hasn’t announced when it might air, who will be involved in its production, or if it will be available internationally. Despite the lack of information, the confirmation of a new season is exciting, especially considering the show’s previous difficulties.
The anime How Not to Summon a Demon Lord faced some challenges with its second season. Initially, promotional videos were briefly taken down from YouTube due to content issues, and the show later required a less censored version after its initial release. Luckily for viewers outside of Japan, the less censored version is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll.
What’s The Deal With How Not to Summon a Demon Lord Anyway?

Going into the third season, you might expect How Not to Summon a Demon Lord to be much more outrageous than it actually is. It’s funny because since the anime first came out in 2018, many other shows have pushed boundaries with much more explicit content, sometimes just to be shocking. This show isn’t quite like those, but it does have some fundamental issues that initially led people to categorize it that way.
This anime follows a gamer who suddenly finds himself transported to another world, inhabiting the body of Diablo, a powerful demon lord. Two girls intended to control him, but his immense strength and gear turned the tables, making them his servants. Now, this reluctant hero must use his powers to help them, and their journey begins from there. It’s one of the most over-the-top Isekai series out there, but the upcoming Season 3 might just top it!
