ITV revealed who will star in the new version of the classic detective series Dalziel and Pascoe.
This new series updates the classic show, which originally came from Reginald Hill’s novels. It centers on an unlikely pair of detectives: the gruff, experienced Dalziel and the meticulous, new recruit Pascoe.
Kerry Godliman, known for her roles in ‘After Life’ and ‘Trigger Point,’ and Nina Singh, who appeared in ‘Virdee’ and ‘Art Detectives,’ will be taking on the roles previously played by Warren Clarke and Colin Buchanan in the long-running BBC series.
ITV’s description of the new Dalziel and Pascoe series hints at a strong and funny partnership between the two detectives, built on shared humanity, even though they often disagree on how to solve cases.
Kerry Godliman expressed her excitement about playing the role of Detective Inspector Andrea Dalziel, describing her as confidently charming.
Wow, what a fantastic role! Playing this character is a dream – she’s incredibly complex. She’s clearly a pro at what she does, genuinely kind, but doesn’t pull any punches – she’s refreshingly direct, even a little rough around the edges. There’s a lovely weariness to her, but also a huge heart. As an actor, it’s exactly the kind of part I love – so much depth and nuance to explore!

Nina Singh said she’s thrilled to be working alongside Kerry Godliman, playing Pascoe to her Dalziel. She added that she finds Godliman very funny and anticipates having trouble keeping a straight face while filming.
As a big fan, I’ve always loved how Colette Kane and her team manage to balance genuinely funny moments with a really gripping mystery. It’s classic Dalziel and Pascoe – you’re laughing one minute and completely on the edge of your seat the next, never quite sure what twist is coming!
Kane, one of the creators of the popular detective series Dalziel and Pascoe, has extensive experience in the genre. He’s previously worked on successful shows like Netflix’s Dept Q, ITV’s Vera, and Dalgliesh on Channel 5.

Filming will commence in the springtime, taking place in the north of England.
News about the new Dalziel and Pascoe series started circulating last month. ITV executive Nana Hughes explained that the show will focus on the unique and compelling connection between the two detectives, and they’re looking forward to showcasing that relationship in a fresh way.
Dalziel and Pascoe is coming soon to ITV1 and ITVX.
